Rejectbaby
Hi, A group of us are planning on staying at a cabin/ranch and going hunting and fishing for thanksgiving weekend. I would like recommendations if possible if anyone knows of a good place. We are looking for somewhere isolated, but dont mind guided hunting tours because we are all pretty much beginners. Also we dont own any of our own guns. We all know how to shoot but dont own any nor do we have a hunting lisence. Does anyone know what am I looking to pay for somethign like this and what would i need. Would i need a liscence? should I purchase my own gun? and whats a good one to even buy and for how much? I know its a lot to ask for but i would greatly appreciate it. I really want to get into this sport and need some guidance. Thank you in advance. HectorBuckBuster
Wow to fish or hunt in NY you will need a hunting license, unless you hunt on a hunting preserve (but this also depends on what you are hunting). I believe no matter where you fish you will need a license. Its getting pretty late to try and get a hunting tripped booked.

HectorBuckBuster
Yea, but a lot of people plan there hunting trips with guides a year or more in advance.
virgil
Before you do anything else, you should look into signing up to take the hunter safety course. You'll have to complete the course in order to buy a license.
steve863
Do you want this to take place in New York state? I doubt you will get it done here. I think it could probably be arranged in a southern state, where you don't even need a prior hunting license from another state in some of them or safety training. Is it a good idea to hunt without some prior training? No.

But since this was only the second post, I expect more info searching than a real plan.
