So here is how my morning went...should I change tomorrow?

Got all set up and in the blind about 4:50. Two hen decoys to my left and roughly 20 yds out. Open the blind window in front and on the right. I am expecting the birds to come out of the woods and into the field on my right. Roughly 5:30 I hear gobbling. Of course it is too my left and all the way across the field. Then two more birds sound off, probably all within 300 yrs and all on the opposite side of the field which is a hedge row and then another field. Roughly 6ish I hear gobbling getting closer and I can see the white head over a little rise. I hear yelping too my left behind me, and wonder if it is a hunter on the next property or a hen. Still don't know. The Tom sees my decoys and struts and gobbles around a semi circle never coming closer than 100 yrs. This lasts around 2 hours. I never call. Then he runs out of the field and into the woods I expected the birds to come from about 200 yds away. I wait half an hour or so and do some terrible sounding yelps. I get a gobble behind me so I shut up. Bird comes out of the woods about 75 yds away, heads slowly out toward the center of the field about 100+ yds away and gobbles and struts for a long time. Around 10:15 my chair breaks and I fall on my ass so now I am squatting to see out the windows. Around 11am I decide to make a move and head out the back of the blind and into the woods to cut around and come out closer to the bird. He caught me when I was about half way to where I wanted to get and ran out of the field. I couldn't get him to gobble again and I ran out of time. So other than bringing a new chair, what should I change tomorrow?

I'd try again. Call sparingly though. Mornings a crap show at times. 10-noon is when you'll get beards trolling for whatever they can get. Even if you knew the tree they dont always fly down toward you. If you've got a Tom or Jake decoy put it right over an upright hen set on ground using half your spike or a short stick. Also one stubborn hen not moving is more convincing than a bunch stationary. Also a view can hurt you and have birds hang up. Sit in woods off field edge out of sight where you think they go into. Blind call sparingly and dont use decoy so they look for you. Soft call when it sounds like they're close if you do. If you have to setup in field use hedge row or knolls so they come in blind until within range. Then by the time they assess they're screwed you get a shot.
