Back in my former life, when I could still leave the house on foot and hike for hours, and there were still a reasonable amount of chucks in the  hayfields,  I eventually stopped using varmint rifles and started shooting them with my  deer/big game rifles just to get some  trigger time with them...Shot some with the 7 x 57, the 8x57, the 30-06, the 25-06 and probably more with the .280 Rem than anything else, because it was my primary hunting rifle at the time... They all worked just fine...
