I'm in need of some help.

I cant determine what zone hunter mountain is in, particularly near the resort on Rt 23A

I used the map tool (map link2) but its saying its zone 4 no letter specific. Then on the DEC zone map 1 it says 3A northern zone (i didn't know there where north and south)

These are these the links I looked into

1. http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/wmutownmap09.pdf

2. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://www.dec.ny.gov/maps/gmdecregions.kmz

3. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/28605.html

Im sure someone is familiar with the area or at least familiar on how to used these tools better.

My wife's family has property between Hunter Mtn. and Grand George, (23a,b,c,d; I can never remember) Always see many deer when we visit. Have seen coyotes and bear scat but I have not seen bears but other relatives have.

I hear one of the last working farms is done and 20 years from now when the farmland has all returned to woodland there will be fewer deer.

Its 3A. I have 58 acres in Haines Falls that I plan to hunt this upcoming season. I am new to hunting so this will be my first season in the woods...

I was up there on saturday afternoon to set up my blind and did some early scouting. I came across a few large piles of scat close to a small clover plot that I worked on last year. Hopefully it pays off.

The locals say there arent too many deer but tons of coyote and a few bear in the area surrounding us. Also plenty of turkey.

yea that whole area is 3A. no doe permits, few deer. black bear get big up that way and i saw a nice cinnamin a few years back....the forests up that way have grown very mature and the state land could really use some managment in the way of controlled cutting to spur young growth to help beef up the deer population. they havent givin out doe permits up there in like 20 years now. i used to hunt that region back in the 70s and as recent as 8 years ago...beautifull country..
