If you have the itch to try something else, try the full caliber conicals made by www.noexcusesbullets.com.

I used PRBs in my old TC hawken for years with good results, A few years back I wanted to work up a heavier elk load for my rifle, since .50 round balls are a little light for elk.

The 460 grain noexcuses conicals shoot great and load easier than the roundballs.

I killed a nice 6X6 elk with them and have continued to use them here for deer.

Not surprisingly, they kill deer just as well as elk .

My pet load shoots flatter than you might think, for such a heavy bullet.

Sighted about 2" high at 50, I am dead on at 100. Since I shoot iron sights ( tang peep sight) that is about the limit of my range, anyway.

Ya gotta try them on the range. Sabots and conicals usually require fast twist(1 in28) rifeling.

I've got a Green Mountain 1 in 70 twist on my T/C Renegade that does a great job with a patched round ball and T/C hunter 430 gr. conicals. I had a 1 in 48 twist barrel that would keyhole the conicals but did well with the patched round balls.

I'm going out next week with 85 gr. of 777 behind a patched .530 round ball with iron sights.

I hate tag soup! Good luck to us all.

in a 1:48 twist hawken I have shit hornady xtps 240 grains in a harvestor sabot. They shot well enough to kill a few deer. I was using 80 grains of good ol goex ffg. I prefer and have stuck with round balls. Just as deadly and shoot better

HUH, didn't hurt?

Guess you are better off sticking to the round balls, you get the idea....
