Identifying the sex of chicks in the fall

I was curious if anyone has any experience or knowledge regarding when you can tell by sight the sex of a turkey chick in the fall of the year.

I had a trail cam over a clover plot all summer and fall and had 12 or so birds in it, they started out as little poults (about 16) and were there regularly into the fall. I really havent looked closely at the pics but was wondering at abouot what age you can clearly see if a young bird is a jake or a jenny.

Just trying to get a guage on number of potential male birds in my area come spring season. And since i have never shot a turkey before in my life the first legal jake i see maybe goingg home in the back of my vest.

about 6 months you can see pinkish color on legs and lack of feathers on head. 8 months a small beard my be seen with close observation.

I think you hang all the chicks on a line and the ones that are better hung are the males..

If the birds are stil lin thier family flocks, as they should be until at least early winter,

it is easy to tell by comparing thier size to each other..

The jakes should be taller than thier mother.. They will have longer necks and legs..

The jennies will be smaller than the adult hen, and tend to be more grey and less black than the jakes.

It is easiest to tell when for sure when you have the bird in hand. The jakes have black tipped breast feathers and the hens/jennies have buff colored tips on thier breast feathers,

Any coloration differences in the heads??? I am trying to determine by trail cam pics. Have always had turkeys in my area and heard them gobbling in the spring but since i put in a little 1/4 clover plot they have been regulars all summer and spring startinig as poults through the fall.

I trying to get en estimate on number of male birds. Is it possible that they maybe head coloration differences come end of October / November? It just hard to really tell by the other methods mentioned with trail cam pics that arent up close.

Sorry guys I couldn't resist... the truth is I wasn't smart enough on this subject to give a real answer.. I was hoping I might learn something from other answers

The snood will be longer on a male and males have spurs,fems don't.
