12/10: Dad hunted 3N dark to dark no deer seen. He’s not Hunting this weekend nor am I. But I may borrow his ML for Monday. Never held one before so May get a quick tutorial Sunday. If not, I’ll just bow hunt Monday. I took a vaca day to hunt

12/13: Dad couldn’t hunt today so I borrowed his ML. I never shot one before but he gave me a tutorial yesterday.

Anyway, I went his land in 3N in hopes of catching up to they 8pt who recently has been showing up now that I have a valid buck tag again.

Great season of action continues. Kicked up a deer on my way in. Passed up this a 5pt around 820am at 40yds (took video and attached screenshot). Thought about taking him but he looked clearly 1.5 years old. Then still hunted late morning and saw 7 does/fawns yarded up together. Lots of fresh scrapes and rubs.

And I was 6 hours behind our new target buck (8pt). Every since we killed the 7pt and 6pt, this guy moved in and has been on 4 different cams. He’s going wild.

I moved to the powerlines for afternoon and saw nothing. Hopefully my Dad gets him this week.

12/15: Dad hunted dark to dark in 3N. No deer seen but the target 8pt was on 2 cams. 12/13 at night after I hunted and today. He’s been on 4 cams but no daylight yet. Dad isn’t hunting tomorrow but will try again Friday I think.

12/21: borrowed dad’s ML and hunted 3N in the morning. Didn’t see anything. The target 8pt was on cam last 2 mornings but still well before daylight. Also the buck I passed up 12/13 was on cam and a tom Turkey.

For the PM I met up crappyice on stateland in 3S for a bow hunt. I walked to the top of the mountain and pushed down the side towards Chris but didn’t kick anything up. The last 2 hours we sat about 250yds apart and I saw a beauty buck (huge 6 or great 8pt) 60-80yds away and Chris saw a doe.

Not sure if I’ll hunt again this year but regardless it’s been my best season ever for buck sightings and I killed a 6pt that was 3.5 years old so tough to complain. My dad killed a 4.5 year old 7pt that was our top target buck. But otherwise wise it’s been a Slow year of sightings for him. I think he may hunt the new Xmas week.

12/30: dad hunted dark to dark in 3N and no deer seen. That's a wrap on the season for him. Overall it was a great year. He didn't see much but killed our top target buck, which turned out to be 4.5 years old. For me, I had several awesome encounters with the bow. Maybe regret not trying to make a shot, but still shot a fox with the bow and a 3.5 year old 6pt with the shotgun. Onto 2022!
