SplitG2
I was able to finally disc 20 acres this past weekend. Planting corn and soybeans. Just need to watch the weather and see when we will get several days of sun to dry out the fields.

SplitG2
well, wasn't able to plant the corn and soybeans this past weekend. Got the parts for the planter but broke a cam. Part should be in this thursday? Hopefully This Friday I can plant!
dave6x6
It's always something isn't it. Weather looks good for the next few days, unless you got a bunch of rain today. Looked like the middle of the state got most of it from the radar i saw. Let us know how you did.

Always, have a plan b and c. lol. The rain stopped yesterday and with sunny skies the next couple days, I should be fine Friday. I will post pictures for you all when done. growalot
good news...I'm so behind in working the plots....equipment issues now bad storms and flooding...then not being able to find the right inoculant for the Hemp...but that's in the mail now...I did get that area disced and dragged and some de-rocking done...but the storms will loosen things up to disc deeper later this week....I have put in several clover and one alfalfa / clover plot though...we'll see if the rains/hale damaged that...still enjoy doing it....I have plans for several fall plots and at least one late corn planting... landtracdeerhunter
That's a nice parcel for corn, soybeans. Do you harvest any of it for yourself? Edited May 30, 2012 by landtracdeerhunter
SplitG2
Yes, just 2-3 acres of sweet corn. In 3 weeks I'm planting pumpkins and watermelon about 2 acres. Most of my plantings are for wildlife.
landtracdeerhunter
The deer love ripe pumpkins. I started with 1/5 of an acre and have expanded yearly. Last years, I grew butternut squash, by accident actually, and found they consume them also. Pick out a few good ones for the family and leave the rest. I try to leave 15-20 % for the wildlife of all other crops grown. Funny, I leave the best for the wildlife, some people think that's crazy. Guess they don't see it the same way as I, the give back thing. Edited May 31, 2012 by landtracdeerhunter
SplitG2
I understand. Most people think I'm crazy planting trees, growing crops for the wildlife, but I love it.
