Depends on how steep it is. Gentle slope, no problem. Robby

The 40 degrees will not be the killer. Like you said. Even behind fence the rain and damp with the 40 degrees is the killer. Up here it’s so early we don’t have any undergrowth or tall grass for them to bed in to get out of the wind.

Happy Birthday!

It's definitely harder to call downhill but he will come if hens are visible.
-
Does 40 degree nights effect the fawns much? We have a couple in a row then it warms up! Weather is the biggest mortality rate for young ones. snow or rain with cold nights could be bad.
-
They will definitely come down hill. They lock up at crossing creeks and such at times but if he lost his morning dancing partners and see’s your sweet lady in the offering he is coming.
-
Happy Birthday and have a great day!

Is it true turkeys don’t like to come down hill ? If they hear a hen yelp I assume they would
-
Get as close as you can to the property line where you can set up your decoys. Make sure he can get a visual of them from where he was in the field. Give some soft calls around daylight and see what happens. If he comes off the roost with other hens he will hang with them first probably but if he can see your setup and you throw a couple soft calls at him hopefully he will come check you out

I would not be to fast to just jump on unposted property anywhere but if you jump on something that is part of the military base without doing you due diligence of signing in and such you may need to pack a lunch. Those Mp’s and Federal dudes do not mess around much when it comes to weapons in the base.

Yup. October 23rd would be 196 days back from today. Hope it’s a buck fawn. Great start if so.
-
That would equate to an October 18 - 20 breeding date. Cool!
