  1. Sweet! I had one for a rental while Toyota replaced my frame. Loved it. Then they put me in an F150, then a silverado. the f150 had twice the mileage as the silverado. I must say the F150 was alot sturdier and roomier for the same class of vehicle.
  2. Does anyone NOT agree that a mature buck with small headgear walking is just as bad (via gene carrying) as shooting a young spike. It should be called antler/age restriction. Down with the older bucks with little headgear and let the young ones go, that would be the only way I'd support it fully.
  3. Currently a Toyota Tacoma for me. I love the Fords too, Powerstroke. Anyone know about the new all Ford diesel in the new Super-Duty?
  4. I always wanted "GTOFFMYDCK". GET OFF MY D*CK OR DOCK. Maybe I'll do it when I get a boat.
  5. My name is John. You'll get to know me by reading my posts. I chose my screenname because I think its funny and I hope you guys do too. I enjoy reading all the experience here. Thank you and all the best to everyone!
  6. I have my weight distributing hitch on right now. I'll be taking it off, Thanks.
  7. Orange to the stand and whenever walking during gun. During bow I may start wearing B.O. more because it is still turkey season. I've also been shot at while wearing an orange bird vest. I was 100 feet from the road pretty much in a parking lot...
  8. Mid 90's there was a few in Westchester County
  9. i've had worse happen. Well kind of. My stand was taken by a tresspasser who left a posted sign on the tree with his phone number. Things went smooth when I called and informed him of the property lines, but damn if the guy didn't feel like an idiot, it wasn't even his property he was "maintaining". He put the stand back.
  10. I've used tinks too. I don't think any specific brand is any better than the next. However, I have yet to try the synthetic ones. I feel its all about what works on that day for that deer. I use trails end 307 in the late season.(It seemed to work) I've also re-routed the deer closer to the field edge with an ultimate scrape dripper. I've never seen a buck go apesh*t on a scent wick either. The buck that went to my truck on the hunting story thread did stop and smell 2 scent wicks with the 307 on them. ???
  11. Oh and what kind of yardage/groups do you get. I'm ok to about 70 yds.
  12. ...and one other thing- say it with me folks - MA-TOO-ER! A nice MUH-TEWER buck. That annoys me.
  13. What kind of music do you listen to? I like anything that's a classic. Mostly hard rock and lately country. I used to like hip-hop and club music, but that got old real quick after a few years of dj'ing and me getting older. I feel the country boys tell it like it is, but sometimes the twang gets to me.
  14. I shoot a smooth bore 12ga Remy 870 xpress. I get the best consistency with Winchester 2 3/4'' rifled slugs (plain jane). I hope to upgrade to a rifled barrel or a completely new gun by next season. I hear good things about Hastings and Tarhunt. What I'd like to know is what everyones experience is with slug gun setups?
  15. One morning during gun season, about 15 minutes before legal shooting hours, a big buck with some headgear walked under my stand and I didn't shoot it. Within 10 minutes, He worked his way down to my damn truck! I just bought the truck from an old adirondack "mountain man" the real deal. I detailed it, and I remember a bad smell. After the buck went right up to the driver side door and sniffed it, I realized it smelled like deer urine or something. I remember the guys grandson telling me that his grandpa had more deer in the back of that truck "than we'll see in a lifetime". It must've been tarsals??? I shampoo'd the crap out of it too. The funny thing is I started grunting, bleating, whatever as it walk away and he kept looking back like " yeah, f*ck you the goods are in the truck!". That would've been a funny hunting show episode...
  16. On versus, david morris took a kid or a young woman on a "hunt". After the shot he says something to the effect of " you put that bullet right where I said to". Like it was a job well done, but only because it was exactly what he said to do. It annoyed me. 1) is he taking people out who don't know where to place the shot? 2) if not, why the need to tell them where to put it and take partial credit? It was on their "ranch". On another episode they took a helicopter out the day before with one of their daughters to pick out a buck they would take the next day. IMHO, that is not hunting.
  17. 3n and 4y. Signed both of them over. 1 to a DRwost on the old forum, the other to a friend w/ land.
  18. http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/article/20100609/NEWS01/6090322/Bear-cub-captured-near-Walkway-after-sightings-in-city-at-Marist Bear cub captured near Walkway after sightings in city, at Marist Michael Woyton • Poughkeepsie Journal • June 9, 2010 A bear cub was captured in the City of Poughkeepsie Tuesday. Michael Knipfing, spokesman for the state Department of Environmental Conservation, said an approximately 1 1/2-year-old, 115-pound male cub was captured from a tree over a stream on Brookside Avenue, near the Walkway Over the Hudson. "He was successfully immobilized, weighed, tagged and tattooed," Knipfing said. The cub will be released in an undisclosed location. Bear-cub spotting was going on in Poughkeepsie Monday and Tuesday, prompting residents to ensure they don't do anything to attract them. John T. Gildard, director of safety and security at Marist College in the Town of Poughkeepsie, sent an e-mail Tuesday to faculty, alerting them to the sighting of a bear cub twice on Monday near St. Ann's Hermitage at the northern edge of the campus. He asked the faculty to refrain from unnecessary trips to the area temporarily. Jason Anthony of Anthony's Bike Rental, across from the City of Poughkeepsie entrance to the Walkway Over the Hudson, said a bear cub walked into his shop around 1 p.m. Tuesday. "At first, I thought it was a dog," Anthony said. "It took off running, and it scaled the side of the building." He said he was not interested in having the bear come back. "Not unless he is renting a bicycle," Anthony said. Knipfing said the bear probably was looking for food. He said people should do everything they can to get rid of things that might attract bears. Knipfing urged people who see bears in urban locations to call the DEC's regional Wildlife Bureau at 845-256-3098. 19. He's 4 in the pic. Now 5. He has a kids compound bow that shoots plastic arrows about 20 yards. I haven't taken him out hunting yet, but he's ready to ride along. I was thinking bow during this past turkey season, but I did not get out myself at all. We've gone on a few hikes in the woods I hunt up in 4H. here's a funny story: We watch hunting shows together on the weekend mornings so he knows about calling, scent control, and RATTLING. One night for a bedtime story he wanted me to tell him about rattling, grunting, etc and how it works and why. So he insisted that I go get my rattling antlers from the basement. I let him keep them and the next morning I hear clanking in my hallway at 5am! No bark from the dog? WTF? Here he comes down the hall "Dad, antlers!" he says. I took a pic with my phone. What's even funnier about the magazine is that he can't read yet in that pic.
  20. bear tracks in the ice. That's a size 13 boot.
  21. See attached pic. Guess I'm on the right track.
