  1. Well, another day down. At this point its me, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong/different over previous years.
  2. Been sitting all day. Saw a 6 pointer at about 120 yards through some fairly dense saplings, I thought he was bedded down in the sun. I stared at him through the binos for eternity, he alternated between looking dead at me and 90deg to his left. He then decided to fuck off and exit the area
  3. If you put the vest under your insulating layers you'll stay warmer.
  4. Cold and windy AF out here in 4z . Been sitting all day, I hope it pays off
  5. Been a frigid day. Saw a doe but didn't have backstop for the shot, and I've passed on the same spike 2x in the last 8ish hours
  6. Best day of the year in southern zone- GL all
  7. Single shot from a rifle on the lot next door, hope they know it's (cross)bow till tomorrow morning. Had my trail camera show a doe and fawn strolling by there a few minutes earlier
  8. The deer are moving today! If you're on the fence about a sit today it looks like a good evening to do it, trail cameras have been reporting off the hook- got 3 different bucks rolling around the property right now.
  9. I've wondered this myself and I think there's a certain "status" of an animal we can't exactly predict. Things like- has their fight or flight response been tripped? Are they oxygenated and primed for flight? If so I think they're going to go a lot farther than if they were carelessly grazing in a field for a good 20 minutes. I too have seen some large discrepancies, my first deer ran about 120 yards before keeling over, however when gutted there was a literal coagulated bloodcicle coming out of both sides of its heart- I'd used a 30-06 hollow point for the shot, so it wasn't a power issue, it just had the strength or stamina to bolt.
  10. Just hit the blind, I'm suited up and ready to go for the next 5 hours. Trail cam posted a doe not too far off just before I arrived, hoping she swings back around.
  11. Deer move by line of sight. Leaves are basically off the trees now as opposed to last week when they were still clinging. This opens up travel paths.
  12. Saw a full size bobcat, but he just sort of kept moving and didn't give a shot, not that I'm sure what you do with a bobcat, I know theres stamps involved but I don't know the process. Other than that it was the usual, bumped some deer on the way to the car.
  13. It's gotten real quiet, I do believe I may have heard the short whistle of a mouse farting off yonder.
  14. Moved the blind today, hoping I'll see more. Been settled for a few hours in a small field with some apple trees. My standards are getting lower, not much time left on this archery tag.
  15. Saw 3 doe headed back to the car. Then I got this from the tree stand. This is bullshit. I quit.
  16. Well it's getting to be that magic time.. Good luck all!
  17. Nice bear just walked in front of my tee stand, am in blind. Fml
  18. Spooked a deer on the way to the stand this afternoon, haven't seen much in the last few hours. Last night I saw a spike get bagged by a suv, so they're getting more active, just not near me. Strangely, I'm hearing a lot of shots off in the distance- it's still bow season here so must be good turkey?
  19. Counted 19 deer in a cornfield along the road about a mile from my hunting spot. Guess they had a party and didn't invite me.
  20. Speak for yourself, I rather enjoyed my sauna this afternoon and am not looking for the freezing morning Temps of gun season.
  21. Been sitting in the blind since 1pm, ain't seen shit. I know these bastards know I'm here, guessing I'll spook one on my way back to the car again.
