That is a perfect example. The one difference is that there is absolutely nothing added to PURE maple syrup. Its raw sap straight from tree to bottle. Adding anything to syrup is considered adulteration. That is illegal and will put a hefty fine on your bank account if you still label it as PURE. In recent years there has been a few major brand stores trying to pass adultered syrup off as PURE. Sugar makers take an overwhelming pride in there product and spend alot of time policing the market themselves. It is darn near impossible to pass such a scam off with so may eyes watching the end product. So unless you buy a bottle that says PURE MAPLE SYRUP or 100% PURE MAPLE SYRUP you are not buying the real deal.

Oh boy if you only knew how that topic is debated lol. Yes and No. There has been many taste test studies done on RO syrup versus traditional syrup. There is also a current study going on to determine the breaking point of where the flavor starts to change at what percent sugar content its RO'd to. Maple syrup achieves its flavor through carmalization. You get carmalization through boiling it to the proper brix. The longer the sap is boiling the more the carmalization takes effect. BUT the real question is after it reaches a certain stage of carmalization does the flavor remain the same or change more? I personally think that if a sugarmaker keeps his sugar content to say 12% or less there is no change in RO'd flavored syrup. Its when those percentages start getting up there to 20% concentrate that the effect might really start showing. The one thing I do know that RO effects color more than anything. RO guys seem to consistantly make lighter syrup. Since you come from a background of your grandfather making syrup you probably know back then the light syrup was highly desireable over the darker grades. Such is not the case any more. Consumers are now demanding higher maple flavor and less sweeter syrup which you get from the darker stuff. But the odd part is if you are a producer that does not sell commercially and rather sell bulk to packers, the lighter grade syrup brings a higher price. That is because of several reasons. The main one is they can blend it with extra dark syrup and turn it into a possible medium grade. And of course confections like maple cream, maple sugar and your favorite maple candy, all of which makes a far superior product using light amber syrup. .

Its not in your head. The chemical compound of maple syrup does vary from state to state and even from acre to acre. For example sandy rocky soil will produce a much different flavor than say swamp bottom maples. Im willing to take a bet that most people do not realize this at all. You will find a difference in flavor from one producer to the next within the same grade standards. Most I talk too about flavor really like syrup produced from the sandy rocky soil. Which makes up a vast of NY producers land. Some producers even go to the extent of keeping sap seperate from different sugarbushes on there property. For example a sugar maple dominate bush versus a soft maple bush, or a wetter section of land versus a dry hillside. We could even take it a step further in the discussion and talk about organic syrup, which is for the most part and probably the vast majority of producer no different that what is being produced by all syrup makers. The big difference is the amount of money they paid for the certification. Its not like syrup producers are out there spraying herbacide on there trees lol. The one thing I can think of off the top of my head that will justify the organic lable is tapping roadside trees. Even so the natural filtration process takes care of that for them. Bottom line is Organic is a great way for a producer to charge more for the same product. Whether you buy in NY or Canada the price is still set by the Canadian reserve. Sure some charge a few bucks more per gallon and some are a few bucks lower but the massive reserve keeps the pricing in tack from going substantially higher. Local competition is a big factor in where the pricing falls within the low end or the high end of the scale. Which is mostly between 40 to 60 dollars a gallon. One last thing is connsumers and producers are going to have to be re-educated on the grading standards around 2014. The standards vary alot between state to state and the US and Canada. This will be standardized across the world and will be based on color and flavor.

If only it was simple as a bad spring to set pricing. The major influence in pricing is the global syrup reserve in Canada. Market has held steady on price past few years. It will take Canada to have a few bad years in a row to make any significant increase in pricing. Last year they had a normal crop. Even with the great maple syrup heist this year of 22 million dollars of syrup stolen.

I resent that remark lol. There is so much work involved the price does not nearly reflect what we put into it. Its a year round effort for hopefully 6 weeks of sap. Well unless you are a backyarder tapping a few trees that is.

That right there just shows you ho much will and the strength of deer. You stick that doe and go home eat dinner and return a 10:30 and its still alive with that shot. Crazy tough right there.

Having 2 farms in the family growing up this phrase might be more common than some think. It was always used around me even to the point of % chance of rain based on number of cows standing and number of them laying down. As I recall it was more accurate than TV. lol. I was at a Amish farm just a week ago and he brought up this winter. Asked me what TV predicitions are. I had to laugh as NOAA says one thing, Farmers almanac says another and half the meterologist are split on the decision. He laughed pretty good over that, anyhow I asked him his thoughts. He says they area all predicting a pretty similar winter to the last one. Said all the natural signs they are seeing are almost identical to last year. He would not give up this Amish secret to what they use for references. Said they are so confident in there predicitions if they are wrong they will have a very cold winter as they put up enough wood do to what they see. If anything I just found it interesting.

Really hard to judge something like that Bubba. I have about a 1 acre plot of mixed soybeans and winter peas. The deer did not start eating the soybeans till they were a foot tall. They are still in there eating them. This was a fall planting. The hard part to judge is your deer population and how fast and how many are utilizing the plot. Here where I have mine the population is low and the most deer I have on camera in the plot is 5 at once and the most that I have seen on camera total in a 24 hour period has been 8. So the 1 acre for that plot is well suited I think as it last quite awhile. Now if I had deer herds in it, not so much lol.

Kicker and goal?????? They be talking baseball here WNY lmoa.

Dont forget to bend at the waist. I rarely stand for a shot no days and stay seated. It forces me to bend at the waist that way, also helps with the rubber legs on bigger deer lol. I have become so comfortable taking deer while sitting its just akward for me to do it any other way now. Like WNy said a miss is better than a bad hit.

Hey that is one of our old walley tournament tricks lol. Pull the plug on your buddys boat and while he is bailling water you are singing across the lake heading to the honey hole. It didnt take long for them to figure the game out though. All they had to do was run the boat across the water and it would drain the water out and then put the plug in. That is if you catch it before its under water lol. Ahhh the memories.

If you had a pass through you would have blood on the shaft and vanes. Is it possible when you say you heard two noises that the first could have been a branch and the second the log? Definatley go check things over in the am. Hopefully the rain holds off for you as well but I think you grazed him and nothing more without blood on the arrow. This might actually be a blessing as well. If you grazed him he lives on for another day, if hes wounded and you cant find him thats every hunters nightmare. I would much prefer a clean miss or very worst case a graze than a bad suffering shot. Chin up man

Would it be wrong to steal a deer crossing sign and put it up by my deer stand? If it gets deer to cross the road where they put them its got to work under my stand too. LMAO this lady has to be messing with this guy, no way someone is that messed up.

Thats is a pretty good point I think. Heck I have bird hunted with my GSP and she found a dead deer once in the woods. Why the heck would it be illegal to take your dog for a walk in the same woods you hunt in. Not out of the norm. I do it all the time. If the dog finds the deer while going for a walk BONUS.

I could give a crap what the link you put up claims. Sure the heck didnt waste my time looking at it either. Again you just do not understand the point being made, continue to take the liberal stance of lashing out and avoid anything that might offend you through twisting of words so you can feel good about yourself and the political party that has and is currently destroying this country. I made a comment on what you wrote. Plain and simple. Sorry you still are having a hard time getting past the part where you forgot what you even posted and then continued with the liberal mentalitiy of striking out when backed in a corner. There is no confusion on my part at all I know what I wrote. Also that is a nice twist on words as expected. I asked a question you see and you come back with the same word twisting to fit your emotions. I have no respect for such nonsense. Nor the patience. You sound like a someone I know without a telapromter in front of them. You have a great hunting season, and most of all remember this isnt about me and you here this is about what the hell is affecting all americans. Theres is no quick answer to any of it and there is absolutely no reason for either one of us to sit here bashing the heck out of each other that betters absolutely no one. You dont like what I say and I sure dont like what you say. I think we can certainly agree to that. -
Well I got my answer. Checked the field out after a morning sit and watched does eating the chaff right next to the turkeys picking out the spilled beans.

Holy crap you dont even know what the hell you wrote just a few hours ago do you? Here let me requote what you wrote. First you say this......... Then you say this And you are telling me I sound foolish? And that I might try reading first so I can formulate a response that doesnt make me look like I have no idea what Im talking about? You are way to full of yourself to even understand what they hell you wrote yourself let alone understand anyone else. -

You might want to ask yourself just why that is. Ever hear of Amnesty? Cant be an illegal if you have been granted amnesty. Kindof like unemployment rate is going down too with more americans unemployed. -

Quit funding them. Isnt that why they are here? If we quit providing there every need they have no reason to be here. Yes they are here and alot more thanks to your buddy in office. They have no legal right to be here thats why they are called illegal immigrants so why do we continue to provide them with means to stay? Take that away and do you think they will stay? -
Ever wonder how much money these evil millionares have paid out in payroll alone? Think about that one. Doewacker you missed my whole point. Meaning some people have no problems copying something someone else has written or done in there life and put claim to it. But when it is someone else who you dont agree with the harassing pursues. I can almost guarantee you at some point in your life you have quoted, used, copied, pasted, etc something in your life. A perfect example would be a prewritten letter from a hunting club written and email to be sent to a congressman. Then printed signed and mailed with a signature that wasnt from the writter. So the point is its okay for everyone else to do this while others might not agree with the intentions but when an employer does it who is substantially wealthy its not?

WOW are you feeling okay, you might want to actually go see a doctor yourself. Let me clear this up for you.. If you dont want theme here and they are not here then there is no one to patch up and send home. Get it? So do tell me there smart one where does it say force them to go home? Just the usual liberal twisting words to fit there agenda as always. Giving them the care and providing them the means to go home lmao I can see the flood of illegals crossing the border who can not afford there own care in there country just to get yet another free ride from americans. What a joke.
