  3. i wear what my wife calls the orange cow suit during the gun season like to be seen the deer don't seem to mind at least the dead ones
  4. last weekend in may then check them labor day weekend
  5. the harvest data seems to say that is not the case check the first post i put on page 2 of this topic. you can go back 20 years and the data would be the same. you also have to remember poll returns are 18 to 22% and polls can be manipulated to say almost what you want look at this poll if you take no to ar's and wait a few years and add those numbers they are almost the same as yes to ar's far below the DEC 67% number to start a ar program. it is all in how and who looks at the numbers.
  6. I shoot at least 3 times a month till July 4 then it’s 30 arrows a day at 20 30 & 40yds then in September in shoot broad heads till hunting season
  7. Here he is by request for TAZ1300 GODZILLA in my back yard
  8. to JCTheGC Here is the definition of a Cross Bow. This definition is out of the Webster’s Dictionary & Thesaurus copy rite 1999. Cross – Bow: A weapon consisting chiefly of a bow mounted crosswise near the end of a wooden stock. You should check the sources of your information and not just spout off the NYBH line of propaganda. I’m one of the bow hunter’s the NYBH claims they represent and I have no intention of ever using a Cross – bow. I do know someone who has MS and I wish some of could walk a week in his shoes or try to walk in his shoes. Maybe your tune would change. I KNOW I HAVE POSTED THIS BEFORE
  9. it may of changed in some areas in 86 but it did not change where i hunt till 93 that was the same year i bouht my house
  10. the one buck in the 70's & 80's was not true you could kill a buck on a dmp if you had one all so the buck take was still 65 to 75% 1.5 yr. olds.
  11. the best slugs i ever shot out of my mossberg smooth bore were made by a co. call dan arms. now when i use a shot gun i use a rifled 870 with copper solids.
  12. If I had to go by how last year was I would say its going to be a good year. I just put my trail cams out all 6 I'll know more in 3 weeks when i check them for the first time.
  13. AR’s this is one of my favorite subjects. This is going to sound like I am not in favor of QDM, but I am in favor of QDM. What I am not in favor of is forcing the way I like to hunt on someone else. Now let us look at some facts. One: Over 80% of the land in this state is in privet hands. That means the land owners have to pay the ever-increasing taxes on the land they own. Therefore, what you have to ask do I have the right to tell someone how he or she can hunt on his or her land; as long as the way the rules are now written, they are doing nothing illegal. Two: Let us look at the BUCK take for the last 5 years. The buck take has been increasing for the last 5 years and the percentage of 1.5 year olds has remained the same. This would suggest that not everyone who claims they are practicing in QDM is doing so. The data seems to say there is not a lot of support for AR’s in the state. If there were a lot of support for AR’s you would see a reduction in the buck harvest coming out of the percentage of 1.5 year olds taken and that is not happening. The data was taken from the DEC annual harvest reports. I know what you are going to say the DECs data is not right. What I will tell you is unless you have state wide harvest data that you can prove is right then you have no proof there data is wrong, and if the DECs data is wrong whose fault is it when only 45% of us report are kills. This means the DEC has to use modeling to get a harvest number.

  15. I don’t know if I should put this out there. This issue may be decided in the courts. While down state on business, we got to talking about deer hunting. The subject of crossbows came up and one of the guys stated that someone may be getting ready to take the state to court under the Americans with Disabilities act. Basically saying by not being able to use a crossbow to hunt it violates his right to hunt. I know someone at the DEC and told them what I had heard and they said the state would not fight it in if it went to court. Before you say it not going to happen remember what state you live in. I am not oppose to the use of crossbows but I would not want the courts of New York to dictate how it is setup.
