  1. Internet tough guy? Very impressive. When someone else owns the land, they also make the rules.
  2. I am NOT hunting on any nuisance permits, genius. He's the landowner-he makes the rules. I AM using my own tags. Why am I explaining this to you? WHO ARE YOU????
  3. And, besides, I hunt private property, where AR's aren't remotely popular with the landowner. Controlling the deer is. I don't shoot this years brood, but, if it's an adult, it goes down. That has nothing to do with the "if it's brown, it's down" term. It has to do with what the landowner expects of me. He expects me to control the population-NOT idolize it.
  4. The point is, that bucks in general will all make mistakes. Being bigger does not necessarily make them smarter. Besides, when someone else pays for my license, then they can dictate what I shoot. Until then, they can go to hell.
  5. Funny. I consistently see older bucks exposing themselves without a worry in the world during the rut. Does that make them "smarter"?
  6. I hear ya Skillet! This guys got only two posts on here, and he's already stirring up a hornet's nest??? What gives?
  7. Spikes don't breed does??? Funny-I've seen them breed does. After all, if the dominant buck in that area is harvested, then what is left to breed the does? Those "inferior bucks" that you're referring to. I don't know where you got the idea that spikes don't breed does............
  8. Rommel was a genius, unlike Obama. The point?
  9. I was just wondering if anyone on here, who doesn't live in the Hudson Valley, has renewed their drivers license recently. In order to renew mine, I have to pay $80.50 because of the damned MTA fees. I have never in my life used the MTA, and yet, I'm being raked over the coals. I just simply can't afford to keep paying these illegal fees.
  10. My favorites were definitely the Brenneke KO's. They're pretty cheap too!

Had a pheasant, and a shoulder mount done there. They do excellent work.
  12. Hi, Doc. It actually varies, like everything else. But, compared to firearm ammo, still much cheaper. The air rifle I have has excellent power. Springers, and some Nitro Pistons, you can get for a very reasonable price these days. My personal preferences for hunting, are either the .22, or better yet, the .25.
  13. I agree. Todays air rifles actually have some serious power, and, considering how many shots you get, are still a good deal on ammo.
  14. Hatsan actually does their testing with lead pellets-800fps, Predator pellet.
  15. No grouse down here anymore. Can someone post a pic, so I can remember what they used to look like?
  16. What's great about the Hatsan 95, is that it's only $150, and also comes in .25, which I definitely intend to get! How's the Bone Collector shoot?
  17. Definitely. Took a bushytail this morning with the Hatsan 95 in .22. Damn that airgun hits hard!
  18. For me, it's definitely going to have to be next weekend-NO MONEY! Have to wait until I get paid.
  19. I agree that the "pimps" can be accurate, but, as you and I know, so can the break barrels, if used right. The problem with the pumps, is that the stocks tend to come loose after a while. We had to start somewhere with the break barrels, and can be just as accurate. Can't put it off forever, otherwise you'd never learn.
  20. Tom, you can get the Crosman Phantom break barrel for $80 at WalMart.
  21. Do you have any idea about the mentality of the people from the city, and Westchester who move here? They are anti hunting all the way, as a rule. It's a whole different world here. Whether it be 500 feet, or whatever, there is no way in hell that you're going to recover your deer here. These people run their dogs free during the deer season, in order to harass the hunters. They stop by where you're hunting, to call you a "murderer". They even go so far as to yell out of their doors, wnem you rabbit hunt. As I said-it's a whole different world.
  22. Down here, it's definitely loss of hunting opportunities. All the places we used to hunt when I was a kid, are now buried beneath $700,000 homes. Out of four of us that hunted in my family, I'm the only one who still does. I have my own reservations about even bothering to "hunt" anymore. It's all "hole in the wall" hunting here anymore, and there's damned good odds that someone who moved up from down below, will call the cops when they hear a gunshot. It's happened to me. To me, this is not hunting. Hell, you can hear people talking, the traffic, and everything else, while "hunting". You're definitely not going to have any solitude here-I can tell you that. Everyone I know that gave it up, is for the reason mentioned-no place to hunt here anymore.
  23. This proposal was brought about for places like down here, where the damned developers have made it virtually impossible to get 500 feet from any house. There are far too many deer, and they can't be controlled, because they just hang out around all the new housing developments. We're beating our heads against the wall down here, trying to get 500 feet away. We don't have the luxury of tons of state land, and acres upon acres of woodlands.
  24. Good point. Can we get over there this weekend-that's the question. I'd be running a little later though-I work overnight.
