Just realized this was under gun and rifle hunting . If it had rain forecasted , I would probably be hunting from a Tent Blind or my 2 man chair blind .

They had that stand at the Henrietta WalMart and it was priced at $137 .

A light rain is fine . I think the deer sense that hunter's don't want to get wet and they leave their bedding area to eat . When I first started bow hunting around 1994 , I would pack up and leave when it started to rain . A few times I noticed deer feeding out in fields as I drove down the road . Never got a shot when it was raining but I saw deer movement from my stand .

Peppercorn - Garlic Marinade helps a little .

I was using BowJax on my strings to quiet the noise . When Moog replaced my string for me (thanks again) , he said my bow was quiet enough that I didn't need them so I have kept them off . I hope he isn't hard of hearing as I am . They worked better for me than the String Leeches or Cat Whiskers . BowJax

I have passed on shooting a doe early only to not get a shot later and ate tag soup .

Apparently the Henrietta WalMart isn't considered a "City Store" . I went to Field and Stream and then went to WalMart . They have archery gear in that store . They also had the double ladder stand that was discussed on another thread for $139 .

Got my 2016 Bowhunter Sighting Log in the mail today . I think this will make 15 years that I have been doing it . Got a couple of Patches for doing the Survey .

Many were concerned about it being too warm early in October . It was 46 degrees when we left for church yesterday . It's 57 degrees now .

Definitely have a warning device for the freezer you buy . I bought a 7 1/2 cu ft freezer a few years ago and it crapped out after 13 months . It had a 1 year warranty . My venison was ruined . I bought another one and put a Thermometer sending unit in the new one and have the receiver next to me . It is 8.1 degrees in the freezer . My wife freezes a lot of stuff so I bought a 2nd one . We have an old 15 cu ft Gibson upright that we bought around 1970 and it still runs ( hope I didn't jinx it ) . I wanted a small 10 cu ft fridge for the garage . I stopped at Orvilles in Webster and saw one for around $400 and was thinking of buying it . When I told the sales person where I wanted to put it , he told me that would be a bad idea for a new fridge . He said that the new ones are computerized and if the temperature in the garage dropped to around 50 - 55 degrees , the computerized unit would shut off and not turn back on . He suggested buying a used one so I found one on Craigs List and bought it . So , figure out what size you want and where you are going to put it . If there is any thought about putting it in the garage , make sure a temperature drop won't cause it to fail . Also , have some sort of warning device to let you know if it has a temperature failure .

Bills finally one a game . They often find a way to give the game away but not today with all the interceptions .

Brady is out for "4" games . He won't be playing next week . His backups have been doing quite well and the 3rd string QB did a good job Thursday Night .

My doctor asked me if I was using any new medication . I told him that I was taking 1/4 Viagra every evening . He asked how much a 1/4 Viagra pill would help me . I told him just enough to keep me from peeing on my slippers !

I keep an eye on the Sox on Yahoo and when I am out use the phone and check the SCORE ap .

It's just like some ammo ..... if it is sold at a rediculously low price , they run out . What would you expect ! WalMart doesn't manufacture the product and can't make it magically appear . Some buyers are hoarding the product and have more than they could ever use in a lifetime .

We used to be able to put ladder stands in the area where that big tree is in the top picture . The land owner died and his son is in charge of the property . The son is a non hunter and a real a-hole . We had to take down our stands . The fields don't belong to him and we have Crop Damage Permits to shoot there . I took 2 doe so far this year with the 25-06 . Farthest shot was only 125 yards . The stand I am in is about 18' high and belongs to another hunter . We use the stand during bow saeson and leave the area to the stand owner for gun season . His daughter and wife sometimes hunt with him . Our agreement works for both of us .

Rooting for the Red Sox . I used to be an Orioles fan when they were the parent team for the Red Wings . Then switched to the Twins when they took over . Couldn't stand the pain and went to the Red Sox 4 or 5 years ago . The Twins are 35.5 games out of 1st place in their division and the worst in the American League . It's tough enough rooting for the Bills in the NFL so I didn't need the pain of the Twins . Go Red Sox !
