  1. I made a lighted nock after watching the attached video . It was pretty neat to shoot . I now shoot a tapered arrow with a smaller diameter shaft on the nock end . If you want to try making one GM has the Bobber Light with battery for around $2.50 .
  2. My oldest son is an advocate of Dr Ed Ashby who pushes the heavy single bevel broadhead and he shoots a weighted 900 grain arrow with his Black Widow recurve bow .I won't shoot an arrow that heavy unless they open a season fro Wart-hogs or Water Buffalo .

  5. I'd like to get a shot at the buck in the 1st pic .
  6. My youngest son is shooting a fixed , weighted single bevel blade on his Grizzly Stix arrows . He is shooting over "800" grains and those arrows hit hard !
  7. 1) Does anyone remove the Tarsal Gland from a deer and use it as an attractant ? I have seen where hunters have taken the gland , frozen it and used it during hunting season . 2) Is it legal to remove tha gland from a roadkill deer ?
  8. No candy for me . I take granola bars and usually some sort of sports drink with electrolytes ........ Usually Instant Oatmeal for breakfast .
  9. I am only shooting a 430 grain arrow with 100 grain broadhead . Pass throughs baby !
  10. Especially if the shafts are camo . I always thought if was foolish to buy camo'ed arrows and then not be able to find one after the shot .
  11. No effect on flight and no noticable affect to FOC of the arrow . I forget how many grains one weighs . As for fletching not sticking well to them , I put the wrap just ahead of the fletching .
  12. Does anyone use arrow wraps ? I had some made up for me a couple years ago .
  13. I got my investigator working on it .
  14. I'm curious to know what was going on this am . I was driving west on Plank Road in Walworth in Wayne County this morning . As I approached Swadling Road , I saw a Sheriff's car with no one in it . I saw some Camo'd guys in a field with a Sheriff's Deputy . They had some goose decoys set up . I guess i'll have to wait to see if there is anything in the next issue of the Wayne Times ( the local scandal sheet ) .

I try to get into a stand about one hour before legal time . It lets things settle down . I just sit back , close my eyes and listen to the woods wake up .
  16. I have a bunch of stands up and don't use all of them .
  17. Did you forget to take the Doggie Treats out of your pocket ???
  18. I was down on Rt 21 in South Bristol today . The leaves are starting to change and it should be beautiful in a couple weeks .
  19. My pin is set at 20 yards and adjustable .
  20. I saw one about that size in Callicoon last week . We were driving back to Villa Roma and I caught the glint of eyes at night , slowed down and the fawn laying was next to the road . Yes it was alive and raised it's head up to look .
  21. This thread has gone to "pot" !!! No sumac around . I t is a very very small woods . I have permission to hunt the property to the East but it is thick as heck and difficult to get into let alone stalk . The land to the North is a High Grass area that doesn't get mowed .The owner died and no one does anything with the land . Northeast is a small woods but that landowner doesn't let anyone hunt it . The owner lives on the West side of Canandaigua Lake and I am going to try to see him today as I have a real Estate sign to install nearby . Here's hoping !
  22. I take Granola Bars . Sometimes an apple or a banana .
  23. I use the Limbsaver string leaches . My bow sounds much quieter when I don't have my hearing aids in my ears .
