  1. This might help you to figure out the Front Of Center of your arrows ..... http://bowsite.com/bowsite/features/practical_bowhunter/broadheadflight/index.html
  2. A classmate of mine took the head of a beautiful buck that was a roadkill to taxidermist . The DEC was on him like stink on sha-zit . He had to turn it over or face some serious charges . The Tarsal Glands would seem trivial but ....... you never know .
  3. Gotta wait 2 more weeks here in the SZ . Sure would be nice to bow hunt now .
  4. Some great prizes for getting a Great Buck and a Free Mount to boot ! I have never seen anything like this on any other site .
  5. The property owner takes his riding mower down through the trail .
  6. Nick , my youngest son , shot an 8 point last year with a 850 grain arrow at 10 yards . He wasn't used to shooting that close and was shaking and hit the buck high in the back . The deer dropped , kicked a couple times and expired . If I had hit the deer in the same spot with my 430 grain arrow , it probably would have just wounded it . I was only 4 miles away when Nick called so I stopped by and took pics . I pulled the arrow out and the blade stayed . It was wedged in the backbone . Nick's 8 point
  7. "Preponderance" ------- Yeah , that's the word I meant to use !
  8. I agree . It looks like a couple nubs on the head . I moved the camera about 70 yards south facing away from the sun . Anxious to see if I get better pics . There are at least 3 bucks that have passed through that area near a swamp .
  9. You can make your own for less than $3 each
  10. I made a lighted nock after watching the attached video . It was pretty neat to shoot . I now shoot a tapered arrow with a smaller diameter shaft on the nock end . If you want to try making one GM has the Bobber Light with battery for around $2.50 .
  11. My oldest son is an advocate of Dr Ed Ashby who pushes the heavy single bevel broadhead and he shoots a weighted 900 grain arrow with his Black Widow recurve bow .I won't shoot an arrow that heavy unless they open a season fro Wart-hogs or Water Buffalo .

Not yet and I hope I never do !!!
  13. The ECOs have more power than the Sheriff's deputies or the Troopers .
  14. I'd like to get a shot at the buck in the 1st pic .
  15. My youngest son is shooting a fixed , weighted single bevel blade on his Grizzly Stix arrows . He is shooting over "800" grains and those arrows hit hard !
  16. 1) Does anyone remove the Tarsal Gland from a deer and use it as an attractant ? I have seen where hunters have taken the gland , frozen it and used it during hunting season . 2) Is it legal to remove tha gland from a roadkill deer ?
  17. No candy for me . I take granola bars and usually some sort of sports drink with electrolytes ........ Usually Instant Oatmeal for breakfast .
  18. I am only shooting a 430 grain arrow with 100 grain broadhead . Pass throughs baby !
  19. Especially if the shafts are camo . I always thought if was foolish to buy camo'ed arrows and then not be able to find one after the shot .
  20. No effect on flight and no noticable affect to FOC of the arrow . I forget how many grains one weighs . As for fletching not sticking well to them , I put the wrap just ahead of the fletching .
  21. Does anyone use arrow wraps ? I had some made up for me a couple years ago .
  22. I got my investigator working on it .
  23. I'm curious to know what was going on this am . I was driving west on Plank Road in Walworth in Wayne County this morning . As I approached Swadling Road , I saw a Sheriff's car with no one in it . I saw some Camo'd guys in a field with a Sheriff's Deputy . They had some goose decoys set up . I guess i'll have to wait to see if there is anything in the next issue of the Wayne Times ( the local scandal sheet ) .
