  1. Went to Pittsford this am and met up with my youngest son . We sat in stands about 400 yards apart . I was situated in my stand by 5:45 . Stayed until 9:30 and never saw anything other than a red fox . Hadn't seen anything there in two outings . I headed for Geneseo . Got something to eat and went to my sister in law's property on Lima road . We were standing behind her house and watched 3 small doe moving through the brush on the adjacent property , jump the fence and run across her pasture lot . I set up my Hub Blind in some brush along the fence-line and put some brush in front of it . Sat there all afternoon . At 5 pm , a doe came out of the small gulley and looked my way . She knew something was wrong and walked across the field at about 70 yards . Then she stood behind my SIL's house and stared for a few minutes . Busted ! I tried to convince my SIL to let me put a ladderstand up along the fenceline but that was a "No" ..... bummer
  2. With the rubber not in place , is there any spot near the blade and arrow where there could be an air hole ? I had an aluminum arrow that I had stuck in a sheet of plywood .I drilled around the plywood to get the arrow loose . In doing so , I put a small hole in the alum shaft . When I would shoot it at the target , it whistled all the way . Soooooo , my guess is there might be a spot for the air to pass through to make the noise .
  3. Beautiful buck Bruce ! Are you still with Scot-Grove ? I have been hunting on Lima Road with no luck ........ so far
  4. Great story . I enjoyed the read .
  5. The wife is still looking for me ........
  6. Happy 235th Birthday to any Marines out there . Semper Fi ! http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/dancing_b06.gif[/img]http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/dancing_b06.gif[/img]http://www.downsouthhuntingforums.com/images/smiles/dancing_b06.gif[/img]
  7. The Bills may set an NFL record this season ------ Go Zero and Sixteen !
  8. I live in Ontario and havn't had any luck here or in walworth so i hunt 8F in Pittsford , north of the thru-way .
  9. I'll continue to wear mine . Just about the time that I don't , i'd be getting a tap on the shoulder by a game warden . I've been hunting since 1965 and have never lost a tag .
  10. Another crappola day . On the way to south Bristol I had 2 doe cross the road in front of me about 5 miles from my destination . I was putting my hunting clothes on when my son showed up . He went to the north side of the gulley and I went to the south side . It was ccccccccold out . Was in the stand by 6 am and finally got down at 10:30 . Didn't see a thing and neither did my son . My son was having a problem with the outlet in his garage that the freezer and fridge were plugged into . I drove 42 miles home to get my electrical test tools , etc and drove 40 miles to my son's house . After a couple hours , I finally got it working again . Hunting can wait another day . No deer , no fox , no racoons and just a few squirrels , I know in the past , during the rut , I would see does in open fields feeding during the daytime and staying clear of the bucks when they weren'r ready . NOTHING !
  11. That sounds like a neat experience .........
  12. He could rip some stitches bending /squating to field dress a deer or do some damage dragging a deer . You don't want to mess anything up that might affect "the boys" ! ???
  13. Soooooooo , if I wanted to hunt with a rifle , it would be okay ??????
  14. Page 16 Back Tags --- Must be visibly displayed on the middle of your back while hunting except in the znorthern Zone and Catskill Park .
  15. A loose stabilizer , bumped sight or rest , etc can affect a bow . There is soo much that can go wrong when getting the bow out after a year in storage . The guy is just plain lucky !
  16. Same here . When I am moving to / from a stand location my tag is visible . If it's on my shirt / jacket and I am wearing a backpack it is NOT visible . Poachers ? Who mentioned Poachers ? My tag is always visible in a Blaze Orange Tag Holder ..........
  17. I disagree . If someone wants to find NY hunting preserves in a state , they can GOOGLE it . If someone wants to post hunting preserves (which are business') then they should contact the site owner and become a SPONSOR .
  18. I have mine on my backpack and make sure I have my backpack on when hunting . I have never had any problem wearing it on my back . What's the big deal ? If you have tresspassers and binos , often you can get the tag number for ID .
  19. I would have expected Gwosalot to come up with that statement ! : ... :
  20. The original shooter did a poor job of tracking the buck and wouldn't have found it if Wildcats han't done a search and found it . Did the original shooter deserve the deer ? Really ? Lucky for the guy that wildcats found the buck or the Yotes would have been feeding on it !
