I was hunting in Geneseo yesterday . The farmer was working a Drott and burning brush . All I could smell was smoke and i would imagine the deer also . I saw 7 deer in the field downwind of the smoke . They pretty much stayed abot 150 yards from the action .

Saw the tail end of a doe around 2:30 in a Geneseo stand . About 5:30 a doe and her two fawns crossed the field about 200 yards away . Then at about 5:50 a doe and her fawns came across the adjacent field and were checking out my 2D decoy . They blew at it , ran and came back but beyong shooting range . At almost 6:15 , I saw 3 more doe and a buck in the adjacent field . In total I saw 1 buck and 11 anterless deer . All but one was between 5:30 and 6:15 .......... Couldn't find my night vision goggles ! : ... : ... :

I am leaving for Geneseo around noon . Have a couple stops to make and should be in a stand by 2:30 . Havn't been seeing anything until around 6 pm . Maybe with the 62 degree forecast , things might change .

I hadn't mentioned Nuisance Permits as I figured i'd get slammed . I got my foot in the door with a farmer a few years ago after I saw him being interviewed on TV News about crop loss due to deer coming from Mendon Ponds Park and Powder Mill Park . We have taken several doe in the past few years . The guy farms a lot of property . We see a lot of bucks in the fields where we shoot the does but they tend to disappear during bow & gun seasons .

Most of the information is in the book but ........ it's not that easy to find what you are looking for . There has to be an easier way !

Sits ---- With the Bow ? ML you can shoot a buck and a doe or two does . You can only take One buck with the tags .

I was on Rt 251 this am and saw 3 dead roadkill doe between Buzz Sawmill and Oldbrook Trail . Less than a two mile stretch .

Not to be Politically Correct but ......... it's a tag it is specifically for Bow & Muzzle Loader , Regular and Late Season . Check page 26 in the Regs Booklet ........

I get an emaild with Fitzgerald's Special Offer for the stuff at least once a week . Never tried it though . I always liked Dan & Guy's TV show when I could get it . They were a hoot !

Getting a deer with a bow really gets the heart pumping ! Nothing like getting up close and personal !

NYBowhunter ------ I have a Trickle Charger that I put on maybe once a month . The winch is 12 volt and could be run by jumper cables to a rider mower , car , etc .. I chose to use a spare battery . I also have a Float Charger that I can use if necessary .

I carry 6 . 4 arrows with 100 gr RAGE 2 balde and two with target tips . After sitting for a long time and stiffening up , I sometimes kill a couple leafs !

I did a search 1st to make sure this hadn't been asked before . How many arrows do you carry in your quiver when you bowhunt ?

I often wondered how good and how long a deer's memory was . For instance , you walk to your stand in the dark and spook a deer . Does the deer remember that spot and avoid it or approach it with caution the next time ? If a deer spots you in a tree , does it remember that spot and avoid it ? Curious .....
