I was heading uphill to my son's property in Italy Valley . My wife was on the back behind me . I have a basket that I had a cooler and a bunch of stuff in .... Not being use to riding an ATV , I hadn't used my head . We were wearing helmets . As we were going up the steep hill we had to ride over several water bars . My wife slid back and the front end went up in the air . The ATV was resting on the rear wheels and basket . I hit the kill switch ,had my wife get off and then I got off . Pulled the front end down , restarted the machine and went the rest of the way as it got flatter . If the basket hadn't been there , the machine would have been on top of us . I learned a lesson that day ------ don't overload the back end when traveling uphill . Have some weight on the front !

I called the Blue Ridge 3D target a Decoy in the video and never corrected myself .

The Rage 2 works great . The Rage 3 is illegal . I wouldn't tak e a chance on getting caught wirh a Rage 3 Broadhead in my quiver . I had not heard the bit about sometimes they don't fold back and sometimes they do so they aren't consistant . I have only been told by DEC officials that they are illegal and that's good enough for me .

In the late summer the Ontario Rod & Gun Club has some 3-D shoots . Nothing competitive . 28-30 various 3D targets set up in a wooded area . I think they charge $8 per person or $6 per member .

I shoot the Remington 120 gr Core Lokt bullets in my 25-05 . It's the only Remington product I use .

Last fall Gander Mt was selling the Rage 3's at the Henrietta store ( so was Dicks) . They had a sign that said they were illegal to hunt with .

You can buy the Bobber Light for $2.49 at Gander Mt (possibly cheaper in a fishing tacklestore). You can purchase manufactured lighted nocks for $10 and up for each manufactured nock .

I don't keep one but it's an excellent idea . We had this forum on another site and several of the members kept the journals up religiously . It's good to keep one and look back on what you did .

I drove past the entrance on Pole Bridge Road a couple years ago and there was a large sign with their logo on it .........

I still use my Winchester 1200 with either the Federal or Winchester super X cheap rifled foster slugs . I bought the gun new in 1965 for $108 and a few years ago I bought a riflied barrel for it for $135 . The farthest I have taken a deer with it is 95 yards . Since we can use BP during gun season , I prefer to use the inline .

This video was posted on You Tube about 3 years ago . They are pretty easy to make and not expensive

My youngest son and I went down to south Bristol on Canadaigua Lake (Hawkes Road) . I wasn't ready to head for my stand yet and it was pitch dark . My son started down the hill to the blind and was gone for about 5 minutes . I heard this high pitched scream that gave me goose bumps . I called my son on the radio and he said he heard it also and almost crapped his shorts . Folks down there claim to have seen a large cat like a cougar . The DEC deneys there are any in NY . The following year I was in my treestand and heard a scream . Shortly afterwards I saw a gray fox . This happened 3 times in the same day . I convinced myself that it must have been what I heard the 1st time . Noises are scarier when you can't see or don't know what made them !

Hunt with a buddy that can't run as fast as you can . If you are attacked by a bear in the dark , knock your buddy down and run as fast as you can !

It's not easy .One property is in Italy Valley south of Potter . It's pretty hilly and somewhat remote . I don't hunt there very often and didn't hunt it at all last year . I have 2 stands in Ontario and 1 in Walworth . If I need to hunt close by and the weather forecast doesn't look good , I sometimes use one of these stands . I have one stand on a property in South Bristol very close to the lake . I have taken a few deer from there . I have seen some big bucks there but never shot one of them . I passed on a 6 pt & 4 pt last bow season with the hopes of seeing one of the Big Boys but it never happened . Lucky my legs are short . I wanted to kick myself in the a$$ but couldn't reach it . I hunt my sister in laws property in Geneseo (69 acres) . It's a 50+ mile drive . When I hunt there , I get there when it's dark and leave when it starts to get dark . I change stands depending on the sun and wind . I have had pretty good luck there over the years . I don't hunt there 2 days in a row as by the time I leave the stand in the evening , I am whipped . These old bones need rest ! I have 2 stands in Groveland on my mother's property . I have permission to hunt the adjacent property but don't have a stand there . Soooooo , depending on the weather and how much time I have determines where I can hunt . Oh yeah , I have a couple places in the Pittsford / Mendon area where I can hunt . Life is GOOD !

I have a total of 16 treestands located on six different properties . Two spots only have one stand each . I have 4 new ladder stands plus a chain-on to put up this summer .

When I first used one on a deer , I could have crushed a pop can with my butt cheeks !
