  1. My youngest son and I went down to south Bristol on Canadaigua Lake (Hawkes Road) . I wasn't ready to head for my stand yet and it was pitch dark . My son started down the hill to the blind and was gone for about 5 minutes . I heard this high pitched scream that gave me goose bumps . I called my son on the radio and he said he heard it also and almost crapped his shorts . Folks down there claim to have seen a large cat like a cougar . The DEC deneys there are any in NY . The following year I was in my treestand and heard a scream . Shortly afterwards I saw a gray fox . This happened 3 times in the same day . I convinced myself that it must have been what I heard the 1st time . Noises are scarier when you can't see or don't know what made them !
  2. This is the closest I came to video taping a hunt . It was after the fact though ......... http://s271.photobucket.com/albums/jj146/parker-bows/?action=view&current=FastEddieScores.flv
  3. Hunt with a buddy that can't run as fast as you can . If you are attacked by a bear in the dark , knock your buddy down and run as fast as you can !
  4. It's not easy .One property is in Italy Valley south of Potter . It's pretty hilly and somewhat remote . I don't hunt there very often and didn't hunt it at all last year . I have 2 stands in Ontario and 1 in Walworth . If I need to hunt close by and the weather forecast doesn't look good , I sometimes use one of these stands . I have one stand on a property in South Bristol very close to the lake . I have taken a few deer from there . I have seen some big bucks there but never shot one of them . I passed on a 6 pt & 4 pt last bow season with the hopes of seeing one of the Big Boys but it never happened . Lucky my legs are short . I wanted to kick myself in the a$$ but couldn't reach it . I hunt my sister in laws property in Geneseo (69 acres) . It's a 50+ mile drive . When I hunt there , I get there when it's dark and leave when it starts to get dark . I change stands depending on the sun and wind . I have had pretty good luck there over the years . I don't hunt there 2 days in a row as by the time I leave the stand in the evening , I am whipped . These old bones need rest ! I have 2 stands in Groveland on my mother's property . I have permission to hunt the adjacent property but don't have a stand there . Soooooo , depending on the weather and how much time I have determines where I can hunt . Oh yeah , I have a couple places in the Pittsford / Mendon area where I can hunt . Life is GOOD !
  5. Hey Burt ---- Glad to see you made it over here !
  6. I have a total of 16 treestands located on six different properties . Two spots only have one stand each . I have 4 new ladder stands plus a chain-on to put up this summer .
  7. When I first used one on a deer , I could have crushed a pop can with my butt cheeks !
  8. Another DIY Project http://s271.photobucket.com/albums/jj146/parker-bows/?action=view&current=FasteddieshomemadeCoyoteCaller_0001.flv
  9. Since there is no D.I.Y. forum , I will post this here .................... http://s271.photobucket.com/albums/jj146/parker-bows/?action=view&current=HomemadeAecheryTarget.flv
  10. WalMart , Dicks , Gander MT , etc sell the Butt Out Tool ...........No need to order and pay shipping charges .
  11. Not to my knowledge . Some farmers tried to get the DEC to open it up to Bow Hunters and it got shot down !
  12. Couldn't get more than one pic in the post
  13. Wrong ! It's a field on Sheldon Road south on Mendon Ponds Park . Here is the field you are thinking of at the NE corner of 65 & 251
  14. I have one of those suits also and my oldest son calls it the "cow pattern" suit . It breaks up the outline a little but still has plenty of Orange to make me visible to other hunters .
  15. I had taken a bow that I purchased from a shop in Henrietta . I had the string and cable changed . I had my drop away (that I installed) fastened to the down cable and it worked fine . When the shop owner changed the string , he ran the drop rest cord through the cable slide . That didn't allow the rest to drop fast enoug so I bought some cord and put it back the way I originally had it . Sometimes the shop guys are too smart for their own good . I received some strings and cable from TWIZTED STRINGS to go on my Pearson TX-4 . I took my bow to Trophy Taker's Shop on the Walworth - Ontario road . He did a real nice job and was quite reasonable in price . Dave was very personable and knows what he is doing . No need to drive 30 miles for a bow fix when I can go 6 miles and have it done properly .
  16. I PM'd some guys and posted this site on a site that I am moderator on .............Hopefully some will show up . I know at least one did so far .
  17. That doe never flinched ! ;D
  18. I have been in that shop in Bloomfield and wasn't too impressed .
  19. During archery season I hunt almost exclusively from treestands . When gun season rolls around , I will use blinds .
  20. I usually wait until about a month before season opens to do this . I know others that preach doing it months in advance . I have learned to trim sparingly as what leaves you see in September are often gone in October and your cover is negated .
  21. Got some video of a few . It was raining too hard to get pics in some spots ............... http://s271.photobucket.com/albums/jj146/parker-bows/?action=view&current=MendonDeer6-22-10.mp4
  22. Two years ago I shot a buck during bow season and a doe with the ML . The doe was bigger than the buck . I butchered the buck and got 53# of meat . I was too lazy to butcher the doe and took it to a processor . I came home with 31# of venison and like I said the doe was larger and I got 22 less pounds of meat at a cost of $65 . Never again !
