  1. I have always been a fan of this practice especially since I have put more bigger racked bucks on my wall. We as sportsmen need to see the value in this practice We need to practice Q.D.M.A. also if your a meat hunter take moer does its all part of a better management system
  2. 32 acres for sale in ulster county.I have been caretaker of this property since 1992.zoned for one family home.Private setting at the end of a private lane.Has small pond, divided by a clear cut with food plots, oak ridges, thick cover and funnels into swamp.excellent hunting, deer, small game, predator, turkey, listed for 89,000 but neg.I am posting this because it reall y is a nice peace of property.A must see for a sportsman.
  3. Yup its loodestrife and its a pain to get rid of.Gotta put out by the roots, don't let it seed and if its growing anywhere around the property you have try and cut it back.Good luck with it its a real pain to get rid of.
  4. I simply don't play the tresspassing game.I have them arrested evertime. If you have people arrested everyone gets the hint eventually.
  5. Pruning the trees works well know where and what brances help. I have 6 trees that I try to keep the spread wider and lower .better access to fruit I use a mixture of 10-10-10.in the spring and spikes around june.Biggest thing for me i can cover my trees in winter because they are dwarf trees spread wider ave is 8 to 10 ft high about 20 ft around a canvas cover works great. in a heavy snow fall winter i fence them in.Its the way I have done it for yrs alot of work but great results.By the way I don't hunt my groves they are strictly for attacting and nutritional set- ups.But the deer I watch in late sept and oct are gratifying.Oh one more thing I have 6 Bartlett pear trees side by side and they do love then too.
  6. Just a heads up if the mild season continues spread your lime and start turning over the ground. lime works 3 to 6 months after being spread.Great for new plots. So if you spread lime now in june through august when your plots are most attractive the lime is working at its most effective.Remember your plots must produce their highest protein levels from early may til late august to maximize antler growth, doe lactasion, and pverall herd health. Then plant a fall seasonal plot or 2 to keep the herd around into late bow and rifle season.
  7. Remember a mild winter means that the sheds will be eaten by smaller rodents for their mineral and calcium. It won't effect the deer as far as stress because of the mild winter.I actually will be turning over the soil late next month for food plots if the weather holds out.
  8. I will be out sunday looking its mid february so there dropped. I know where to look and about how much area to cover. Its been a mild winter so I won't stress deer in the area to much.Let everyone know how it goes.
  9. Dont know if it was a lost deer or not but theres alot of bad crap happening over there.I know of a guy that shot 2 deer didnt tag either and he got out before the state police showed up.Theres to much bickering by law inforcement about whos territory it is.I also had a friend get threatened because he approached someone parking and hunting in the same spot that he was already in.I ts just to sad it used to be a great place to hunt.
  10. Theres been alot of bad issues at stewert since the D.E.C. doesn't patrol it anymore.I have heard alot of bad things from there.Guys just cutting backstraps and hinds off deer.People being threatened. People coming in in truck loads driving deer,Shooting from the roads, parking in and hunting in areas where someones already parked.sneaking shotguns over on the stewart side. That place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Somebodys gonna get shot over there soon.
  11. They should start soon if they haven't already.I usaully start looking around late January.into early March.
  12. Thanks everyone I know that the law in our area is onto him. They said next yr they'll be on him again. One cop from the town hunts the other side of this property an had no idea.I will be careful next yr these guys were actually fron nyc orginally.I had him checked on by a friend who told me its not his first run in like this.I will not be his last.Iknow that cause they blame everyone else for thier lawlessness. After all I am the problem remember. He got even madder when he found out we took 3 nice bucks off our side of the fence and we have to drag them righ by his property.
  13. What goes around comes around sucks to be my neighbors. Finally got caught trying to bait deer off my property.Caught sitting in thier stand with bait with in eye sight.I would have not been so pissed if they just left me alone all season and before playing games. the last straw was 2 weeks ago huning out of his truck facing the property line when he saw us started beeping the horn, playing the music loud and throwing rocks and sticks in the woods. Then when we came out stood in thick cover snapping brances(yes snapping brances) trying to get one of us to shoot his way.So last weekend when I saw him go to the stand 5 yards off the property line facing into my land and having salt and mineral blocks around thier stands yes I called the D.E.C. sorry fella you bought it on yourself I think.I wrote and artical about this guy and his crew earier this yr.Then he tells the officer in front of me that they have had trouble with me all yr wow really.I officers yes more then one who showed up saturday could not believe what they saw and heard. The kicker for them was that the other guy actually tried to say it was me causing all the trouble.Sorry I am such a bad person.I'll try to be better next season pal.I guess I got to be a better neighbor huh guys.
  14. I am pro AR i think its time we allowed our yrling bucks a chance to grow. This is just me I respect everyone elses views but its nice to shoot a wall hanger every now and again. Not to mention it will help the genetics over in time.NY state has the same type strain of deer to grow record book buck's Its just been our hunting populations mentality to shoot the first buck we see.I am a meat hunter as well so a nice fat doe suits me just fine My son and I only shoot 6 or better.I would love to see a state wide AR sorry just my feeling not trying to step on anyone I 'd rather shoot a 7 or 8 pt than a spike or 4 pt.
  15. 32 prime hunting acres for sale 2 minutes from walkill in lower uster county.Land has it all ridges, hardwoods, foodplots pond, some thick bottom land, surrounded by other woodlands and swamps.Has a 100 ft acess rd zones for one family home. 16. They possibly are I shot a 7 pt 3.5 yr old buck openning day then my friend shot a yearling 6 pt on that tuesday. When I put the pictures side by side and the comparisons from the features on the deer and thier racks I am sure they are related father and son.
  17. Hi everyone this season has been fair.We were selective in sorts and sucessful.I just want to say that if you look at the hunt and take everything in to consideration then what constitutes sucess.Killing the most deer or the biggest or just bragging rights over the local crowd. To me and the guys I hunt with its about being fair.We look at a range of bucks first then work on doe's later. We just started watching our food plots for havesting doe's.Our buck havest was fair letting some good bucks go.Yes even with the pressure they will survive. Now the doe's will be our focus.looking to take a few yearling doe's to fill the freezers and not hurt the breeding cycle.I hope everyone had a great yr and learns from what I have wrote this season.
  18. Does anyone remember who posted the tax map tool or the link to find it.Like a fool I never wrote down the info or website but it was very useful. Thanks to who ever can help me out.

  20. Openning day was a success.I took a heavy bodied 7pt buck around 7 10 am.I saw a total of 4 bucks within a hr of daybreak.Thursday afternoon I had set out a fresh mock scrape using Codeblues grave digger and golden estrus. All 4 bucks visited that scrape this morning.A spike at 6 40,a 5pt at 6 50 the 7pt at 7 10 the buck I took andthen after that deer was down a small 6pt came in at 7 30 he came to the scrape even as the 7 pt lay about 10 yrds from it amazing.
