All quiet in 5h. -
Well, it is still pretty rural here, I doubt anyone is actively feeding him unless it is some hunters heh. It's the towpath in Boonville/Forestport.
-
Yeah, it was just blur, though I did see one last weekend with velvet.

He won't last long with this attitude. I was walking down a popular walking trail and this buck came out, started eating and let me get within 15 feet of him lol.. I stood there and talked to him for about 5 minutes. I could have probably touched him, that's how dossile he was. I was the first one to walk away heh..

Ditto on the one and done. I get that out of the way right after breakfast!
-
It sure does keep us from having to all go out and grab a few armfuls later on.

I tell you, it is hard on us because I have twin sons, and unless we all sit in one blind, it's difficult to comply 100% with the DEC youth hunt rules. The Adirondacks are thick. The idea that I could sit between them and keep an eye on both is really not possible. I have to look at one or the other. I do my best, but half the time I can't see one of them. I sit in a stand looking down on their spots. The stand is strategically placed just for that. I could yell to them, but we just use radios. I have them facing in opposite directions. That's about the best I can come into compliance. I am sure a stickler of an officer could probably find a problem with that, but I am just trying to give them a chance to actually get one on youth weekend before they age out.

A couple apples.. I take a bite, set it down for a few minutes, then another, and another. Keeps me from drinking too much water, and acts as a mild coverscent.

We don't have any hard/fast rules, besides what must be done when closing up camp. Some loose ones: Every time you go outside, grab at least 1 piece of firewood on your return (when using wood stove only). He who worked the least during the off season should be prepared to work the most during the season Seniority is king That's about all I can think of at the moment..

Can't wait until 5am. Snow always changes the equation up here! I have a nice 8 point on the cam. I hope I see him tomorrow.
-
Now I feel I can hunt the rest of the season pressure free.
-
Congrats. It was raining like Hell up here in 5H. Glad to see it wasn't just me out there!
-
After 3 years hunting some land of mine up here, I finally spotted a buck. I normally only see does up here. That's a long time to wait, and today that had to end. I took this crotch-horn with a muzzleloader and ended that drought! Takes a lot of pressure off the rest of the season. I swear this is the hardest place I have ever hunted in my life lol!

Radar shows rain in about 10 minutes. Gonna head back to camp 4 lunch.
-
Cool pic of the bears. Deathly quiet here at 5h. Listenin to the hunters on the walkie talkies. They r not doin any better.
-
Quiet so far, crept 4 squirrels.

-
Windy as hell here too in 5h. Thinking about still hunting instead of sitting here..
-
