  1. DOC / NYANTLER, you guys give me some hope that people are seeing the truth about what is going on. Sadly I don't think much can done for the zombies programmed by the teachers union. Did you ever see the school documentary "Waiting for Superman"? You can watch it on youtube a piece at a time
  2. Not fair at all Geno. I have kids, but in a fair world only those with kids should pay,and we should all pay an equal amount. It's easy for those on here to say give the teachers our future money when they don't pay there fair share to begin with.
  3. My frustration is aimed at the LI teacher, not city teachers. I respect the city teachers who taught me, not the ilk that slimed their way into the LI classrooms and use our kids to blackmail us. Our school has threatened canceling Kindergarten if they don't get the increase they want. I can't think of a lower form of life than one who uses children for their own personal benefit.
  4. It's not totally true to call it school taxes. They are more like teachers pension contributions. Remember they will only give our kids so much, the rest goes into their pockets.
  5. Your right Dave, I should ignore him, but the teacher in me tries to help those who need it the most. I guess I should just write him off.
  6. Wrong, I have alot of respect for teachers, just not the money grubbing thieves who impersonate teachers today. I wasn't taught by the ilk that is out there today. We all saw from the riots in Wisconson what type of people is teaching now.
  7. Pretty much all you said is totally false and incorrect, except "But they all come back home because they cannot afford to live there. Your cost of living in that region is out of control." and that is why I have written everything you have read before. Our taxes on LI are out of control. My school tax is 57% of my tax bill, my Police tax is 21% of my tax bill. Thank you for stating my point.
  8. Here is a little summary of East Islips top earners. Sort of sad that the top two make more than the Governor of the state, and theirs is a part-time job. See them all at http://seethroughny.net/payrolls/schools/
  9. You are making the claim, you provide the facts. The bottom line is that I would only pay $8,400.- If the private school gets funds from other benefactors that is willing donated then their is no comparison to a school district that over charges the tax payers,
  10. That was a very relevant quote ........................40 years ago.
  11. I provide facts with my statements, you do not. It is clear who knows what is going on. East Islip budget passed last year by a 2924 to 1952 vote. They collected $24,276.- per student in 2009 and it is probably much higher now. You don't think that is enough compared to a private school?
  12. So you understand our frustration then. The teachers union does not unfortunately. Their motto to the taxpayer is basically, "Give us your hard money and learn to do more with less". While we work part time and get raises irregardless of the state of the economy. If you get a chance, take your schools budget and divide it by the number of students. My school district collects over $33,000.- per student and still cries poverty. It would be cheaper for me and everyon on LI if they closed the whole school district and I sent all my kids to private school.
  13. Well said Geno. The reality is that teachers forget it is our money. We are not a private corporation that exists to generate money for your retirement. Who is gonna help me retire after you stole all my money for your pension?
  14. Virgil, fess up now, I know you are a teacher. Do you know how much your school district collects in taxes per student? I would guess you live around Middle Island area and it is safe to around $29,000. per student. A private school only cost $8,000. per year. Where does the extra $21,000.- per student go Virgil? You are also wrong about the contracts. Contracts are broken everyday and the teachers contracts can be broken also. You didn't tell me what school district you are referring to?
  15. You teachers need to understand it's not about vengeance but rather justice. You can't take money we need to live and help our children with so you can reire after 20 years and collect another 2 million in benefits. What school district do you work for? Can you provide me the link to their voting record and budget? None of what you said is true. A tax increase is still imposed even when budgets are voted down. How come private schools can educate the same child for 1/4 of what the public schools charge? If you your school district is as bad as you say it is because the staff is lining their pockets and padding their pensions, not because the school does not have enough money. We are told that we must spend more money to get a quality education. The opposite was shown in the school documentary, “Waiting for Superman”. The quality of education has gone down as the cost of schooling our children has gone up. Regents’ exams and SAT’s are now graded on a curve because students no longer perform to the same level of those years ago. Lastly, the biggest lie is that "our schools are responsible for our property values". The school system is merely a reflection of the quality of the people that make up the community. The school system did NOT create the quality of the community.
  16. Get a copy of Brownells AR-15 catalog if you want to build or customize your own. They have a pretty nice selection of stuff, http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=24459/Product/AR-15-CATALOG They also have online videos in their website dealing with AR's. They are nice rifles, you will like it. All patriots should own one.
  17. Yeh, I can't wait till they have to pay real estate taxes. Watch them complain then. Oh wait, they won't be able to afford a home in the future economy.
  18. You got that right, "sits in trees". I remember standing in line behind a family and her two daughters who were college age. They were excited to be old enough to vote and support their old school. So they had 3 votes against my 1, not a very fair system.
  19. You forgot the old, "but it's because of the state mandates" that we charge so much taxes. Of course state mandates account for less than 3% our schools $71,000.000.- budget. "Or this increase is only $200. more a year". Well I've got a another 30+ years to live, so that's only $6,000.- plus the next years increase and so on, and so on.
  20. Agreed, there are dark days ahead for all. We haven't avoided the next Great Depression, we just slowed its advance by borrowing lke crazy and allowed it to build up more momentum when it hits.
  21. You're comparing apples to oranges. The private sector generates money that keeps the econemy going. The municipal sector generates no money and the larger it gets the more the economy declines. Other differences. Private sector does not guarantee your job You get tenure Private sector does give pensions. You will receive (depending on your tier) up 50% pay for sitting on your butt. Your mediocre health insurance in the private sector stops when you stop working A teachers "premium" health insurance never ends. If you made $100,000.- six years ago you were in management. If you made that pay, not many people did. You can teach and make over $100,000. with as little as 7 years experience. In the private sector you can work 20 years and then get laid off. You can retire after 20 years and still live well. In the private sector you can get a pay cut. Won't happen as a teacher. You must work full-time in teh private sector, 40+ hours a week and year round. As a teacher you may teach a maxium of 5 actual hours and only work 180 days a year. And lastly, The Governor of NY makes $179,000.00 a year and did NOT take a raise last year. My school’s Superintendent makes $294,000.00 a year, and DID take a raise last year. Go to http://seethroughny.net/payrolls/schools/ to see your teachers and administrators base salaries. Make sure you sitting down, you won’t believe your eyes. I can write all night but if you don't see the truth now, you never will. Enjoy your benefits while you can, the NYS pension system does not have the actual money to meet all its comittments for future retires. Looks like we may see you at the future riots screaming for our money.
  22. Well said Dave, I actually dated a second grade teacher once. She basically admitted what we all we know. She taught a class of 20 kids (not special ed) and had an assistant as well. My 2nd grade teacher taught 30 of us, and did not have an assistant.
