If you sell A gun, the answer may be yes. “We will be looking for those individuals who seek to avoid registering,” Attorney General Loretta Lynch told reporters following a Jan. 4 meeting with President Obama regarding executive gun control. Lynch was referencing the portion of Obama’s pending executive-action gun-control measure that will require gun-sellers to register as federally licensed gun dealers if they meet criteria demonstrating they are “engaged in the business of dealing in firearms.” This language also means that private sellers registered as federally licensed dealers will have to perform a background check on every sale. One problem is that the White House executive action fact sheet does not present any numerical minimum on the number of sales that a private seller must conduct before he is considered to be “engaged in the business of dealing in firearms.” Rather, it indicates a private seller can be considered to be “engaged in the business of selling firearms” regardless of the location from which she sells, the frequency with which he sells, or the number of guns she sells. In light of this, CBS News reports that Attorney General Loretta Lynch is making it known that the ATF will be watching and looking for private sellers who “seek to avoid registering” as being “engaged in the business of selling firearms.” Lynch stressed that an “exception” remains for “the hobbyist and collector,” but the executive order means private sellers cannot continue to “hide behind that [exception].” Translation: “We will use this new executive order to mean whatever we want it to mean when we come for your guns.” That my friends, is the real reason for Obama's "executive order". Regardless of what supporters think, this is very bad legislation, and it just might get a lot of people killed.

Obama executive order a go.....
Mr VJP replied to growalot's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
You don't think owning a firearm is already subject to hundreds of laws and restrictions? Obama just added more of them. It's becoming more common on a daily basis, to see drivers who can't handle the "privilege" too. But when they don't, they are arrested and jailed. Obama isn't trying to infringe on the driving "privileges" of every American because some speed, drive recklessly, drive drunk or intentionally drive into crowds to kill lots of people. Does he demand high horsepower sports cars be banned? Or crotch rocket motorcycles? No. He allows far more freedom where a government endorsed "privilege" is granted, than he does for a Constitutional right. Why do you suppose that is? Perhaps it's because you are no threat to government oppression and wanton tyranny when you own a car or motorcycle, but as a gun owner you are. It has nothing to do with safety, violence, crime or gangs. It has everything to do with freedom and the governments desire to impose complete control without effective opposition. Support the government's desire to disarm Americans and suffer the obvious oppressive repercussions that will follow and the constant escalation as well. -

It would be best if some clown from some other country did it, in some other country. That would show the rest of the world Americans are very "tolerant". -
The trouble with changing the law would be eliminating all .22 caliber centerfire rifles from deer hunting. Using the right bullet, many .22 caliber centerfire rifles are perfectly capable of killing deer effectively. On the other hand, many of them are not. They would have to name the rounds that weren't legal to do it right.

I would suspect it would be better classified as an air gun for hunting. It uses arrows, yes. But it has no string to propel them. To me, it's an air gun that shoots arrows rather than bullets. It is shooting a projectile with compressed air. It's not archery. If NY allows air guns for hunting and it meets the minimum requirements for a hunting air gun, it should be allowed for hunting as an air gun. Calling it a "bow" doesn't make it one.
-
If you hit the shoulder with those V-Max bullets, they will not penetrate into the vitals at all. They just blow up on the shoulder and cripple the deer. I prefer a good deer bullet that will penetrate.

How come nobody has endorsed the .222 Remington? You guys got a problem with that round??

The trouble is, the law was passed just "because". It doesn't do anything but make those who fear firearms, and want them ALL banned, feel good. They feel they won, and they did, but America's citizens lost. When we allow lawmakers to pass laws that are clearly in violation of our rights, we are supporting the demise of all of our rights. People who want this law repealed can never stop protesting it's existence! To do so amounts to acceptance. Hunt with whatever you like, but support those who wish to show tyrants they will NOT comply! Like Yogi said, "It ain't over till it's over!"

Democrats Are The Party Of Gun Control.

The warnings about Obama and his anti-gun goals have been out there since he first announced his run for POTUS in 2007. We get to these critical points in America because people fail to believe the predictions of the future that are based on obvious ideology. How do we get to these points in this country? By letting these issues go unchallenged until it's too late. After Obama is done ripping up the 2nd Amendment, Hillary will rip up the entire Constitution. The future is easily predicted from there, but deniers are in the majority right now. -
Lots of folks using AR's for predators these days. People use M1 Garands and M1A's too. All bolt actions are adaptations of old military Mausers. Military rifles have always morphed into the hunting fields. There is no functional difference between an AR and a Remington 7400. Besides, an AR can not only hunt, it can be a lot more effective in other conditions where your lever gun will fall far short. The 2nd Amendment wasn't written to protect deer hunting.

NRA- Hunting Leadership Forum

The real question is, do they earn their money? I don't see the members calling for their resignations. -

Are you offering to do their work, of which there is a lot, for free? The association would be happy to get qualified leadership that will work pro bono. None of those elected to the board by members are paid, but high level executive positions are. Can you name one major national rights organization that has unpaid leadership? Can you point to one that spends the same percentage of it's donations on it's mission? If your not NRA, you helping the anti-gun cause by refusing to support the NRA. -

The NRA has been the biggest Hunter Safety promoter for about 100 years. They have always been at the front of the anti hunting fight. Every hunter should be an NRA member. -

These self righteous, pompous, anti-gun people are oblivious to their totalitarian mindset. They actually think they are the answer to the problem of violence, with all types of weapons, in America. Only by implementing their desires will they ever be convinced what stupidity it is. Problem is, we'd all suffer proving them wrong. -

They don't go to school and don't get intelligently educated. They're in a government mandated daycare system designed to control their minds and keep them from hurting themselves, until they are old enough to vote for Leftists and collect welfare for life. -
"Defined as an “ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior,” symptoms include questioning authority, negativity, defiance, argumentativeness, and being easily annoyed." (Referring to the original post here, do you think this will be used to disarm pissed off taxpayers more than it will be used to corral the pissed off Black Lives Matter hooligans?)

That is because you are a productive american and not a parasite. More gun confiscation is happening for other reasons too. http://www.youngcons.com/california-law-allowing-seizure-of-guns-without-notification-goes-into-effect-january-1-2016/ Don't like your neighbor? Place a call and all their guns are taken. Soviet Russia has shown America the way. Loonies will still be allowed to roam freely and use hundreds of other things to kill people though.
-
Must be a Freudian slip that you called it the "givernment". LOL!!! If the government is your friend, you're a parasite among free men. I'll proudly stand with all of the other great Americans, living and passed, who have or had a very healthy distrust of the government and knew of it's potential to grow bigger. The bigger the government, the smaller the liberties. The smaller the liberties, the more oppression. Power corrupts. You should be very worried because you are you!

Distrust of authority is now considered a mental disorder. Joseph Stalin would be proud. Look for gun confiscation to start happening using these diagnosis. If you have guns because you don't trust the government, that could be used to diagnose you as having Oppositional Defiance Disorder and then they'll declare you unfit to possess firearms. There will be a few test cases then they'll start ramping up. http://theunboundedspirit.com/nonconformity-and-freethinking-now-considered-mental-illnesses/ "Is nonconformity and freethinking a mental illness? According to the newest addition of the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), it certainly is. The manual identifies a new mental illness called “oppositional defiant disorder” or ODD. Defined as an “ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile and defiant behavior,” symptoms include questioning authority, negativity, defiance, argumentativeness, and being easily annoyed. The DSM-IV is the manual used by psychiatrists to diagnose mental illnesses and, with each new edition, there are scores of new mental illnesses. Are we becoming sicker? Is it getting harder to be mentally healthy? Authors of the DSM-IV say that it’s because they’re better able to identify these illnesses today. Critics charge that it’s because they have too much time on their hands." Although the authors of the manual claim no ulterior motives but simply better diagnostic practices, the labeling of freethinking and nonconformity as mental illnesses has a lot of potential for abuse. It can easily become a weapon in the arsenal of a repressive state.

She won't get over it. She'll use it against her family until she gets her way with them. Many mother's never realize, the more you stop children from doing something, the more they'll want to do it. -

Tell her, "Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it." Old boy scout preparedness training. Can't undo it. "Be Prepared" School teacher? You would think with all the recent school shootings, she'd be carrying one herself. Ask her if she has a fire extinguisher at home. If she does, ask her why.
