Behind the second hearse was a > solitary man > walking a dog on a leash. Behind him, a short distance back, were > about 200 men walking single file. > The man couldn't stand the curiosity. He respectfully approached the > man walking the dog and said, "I am so sorry for your loss, and this > may be a bad time to disturb you, but I've never seen a funeral like > this. Whose funeral is it?" > "My wife's." > ''What happened to her?" > The man replied, "My dog attacked and killed her." > He inquired further, "But who is in the second hearse?" > The man answered, "My mother-in-law. 2. It was new to me, and I think it's funny. ;D
3. How do you know he wasn't in Arizona? He was missing in action from NYC for about 3 days, and when asked by reporters where he was, he told them it was none of their business. Except for the fact his agents mentioned they did not think they would pass a background check, no laws were broken. Private sales do not, by law, require a NICS check. Do you realize conducting such a sting operation is currently a violation of federal law? Too bad the feds don't enforce it and arrest any body who was involved in it. It also proves Bloomberg has no respect for the law.
4. It's OK for them though, because they have a driver on the taxpayer's payroll. >
5. How to save the Airlines Dump the male flight attendants. No one wanted them in the first place. Replace all the female flight attendants with good-looking strippers! What the hell -- they don't even serve food anymore, so what's the loss? The strippers would at least triple the alcohol sales and get a 'party atmosphere' going in the cabin. And, of course, every businessman in this country would start flying again, hoping to see naked women. Because of the tips, female flight attendants wouldn't need a salary, thus saving even more money. I suspect tips would be so good that we could charge the women for working the plane and have them kick back 20% of the tips, including lap dances and 'special services.' Muslims would be afraid to get on the planes for fear of seeing naked women. Hijackings would come to a screeching halt, and the airline industry would see record revenues. This is definitely a win-win situation if we handle it right -- a golden opportunity to turn a liability into an asset. Why didn't Bush or Obama think of this? Why do I still have to do everything myself? Sincerely, Bill Clinton
6. And some gun owners seem to think tactics like this are "reasonable". :
7. I have an 1894 in .357, sold one in .44 Mag a few years ago, a 336 in .30-30 and a 336 in .35 Rem. I'm trying to decide if I want another one in .444 or .45-70 now. I've never had one in the 39 in .22 though. I have a lot of .22's but really prefer a bolt action in a rimfire rifle.
8. Actually, they learned what they did wrong with prohibition. they went for a total ban. This time they will allow possession and consumption, but only under set conditions. And those conditions will be you have to drink it at home and stay home when you do! :
9. They're already doing a number on alcohol and drinking. That's a natural 2nd act to follow the cigarette war.
10. 1. Never pass on a firearm if it's worth more than you are paying for it. 2. You can never have ENOUGH firearms!
11. It's for a friend of mine. I'm looking for a used one for him. Money is real tight since he was laid off.
12. I guess they decide to enforce the laws they want to, and not laws like littering.
13.

Friday, February 04, 2011

There's still no shortage of cases involving school officials' over-zealous, one-size-fits-all, zero-common sense enforcement of "zero-tolerance" rules. The latest outrage involves a 7-year-old Hammonton, N.J. student who, according to a recent NBCPhiladelphia.com article, faces criminal chargesfor the egregious offense of firing a Nerf-style toy "gun" at his school. The fearsome weapon shoots small, soft, ping-pong-type balls and there was no evidence of anyone being threatened or injured by the child's actions. The incident was actually investigated by the Hammonton Police Department after school officials reported "suspicious activity." Police then charged the pint-sized perpetrator with possessing an imitation firearm in or on an education institution. Unbelievable! Is this what we've come to? Insisting the police investigate and charge a 7-year-old for "shooting" Nerf-style ping-pong-like balls? What's next; throwing children in jail for tossing beanbags in class? Imagine the damage a marshmallow could inflict. We all can agree that we want our children to be safe at school, and that reasonable safety measures should be followed. But when administrators and law enforcement allow "zero-tolerance" to become "zero-common sense," we've gone beyond unreasonable and arrived at outrageous.

14. Arizona Governor Jan Brewer slammed Bloomberg, saying it was interesting that the mayor has enough spare time on his hands to come to Arizona to launch a sting operation. Brewer said, "He's out here in Arizona solving our problems. I guess he believes that he has solved all the problems in New York." The article went on to note that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio wondered why Bloomberg didn't notify his office about any alleged violations. "Why is Mayor Bloomberg concerned about law enforcement in my county? Maybe I should send undercover deputies to New York," Arpaio tweeted on his Real Sheriff Joe Twitter account. For her part, Brewer said she has no intention of sending investigators to spy on New York.
15. Gotta watch the whole thing. Oh yay!!!

17. I have always found it interesting that utilities, like electric, heating oil, natural gas and even telephone and cable rates are regulated by government. The idea for heat and electric being they are necessities, with phone and cable being monopolies. I can't live with out heat and electric, but I can't live without gasoline either. As far as monopoly control by oil companies, Exxon/Mobil pretty much has the majority of the market and surely has the ability to fix prices. I think it is about time gasoline becomes a regulated utility like heat and electric. It is also a supply and demand issue as far as the price being charged. Refineries are at max output now, and the eco-nazis won't allow new ones to be built. Even if there was a glut of oil, only so much can be made into gasoline in a day. It's about time the government start addressing the issue of supply. We don't want to destroy the environment, but we need to live and prosper also.
18. I do not smoke, but I think this is a perfect example of the government moving towards an unpopular, or unconstitutional, objective with baby steps. They start off with what most people consider a "reasonable" infringement on a perfectly legal activity, then step by step, they eliminate the activity all together. Remember how seat belt laws started as "advisories"? Can you see the parallel to gun control laws here? Be careful when the government asks you to accept any limitation on your freedom. History proves that is never the limit they expect you to accept in the end.
19. I hate to say this Doewhacker, but when it comes to a depressed economy, you ain't seen nothing yet. Things can get a whole lot worse than you have ever seen in your lifetime. And if things keep going the way they are, without any change in political direction, they will.
20. "You know, we have three branches of government. We have a House. We have a Senate. We have a president." --Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) ??? He needs a remedial civics class :
