DOING A CONTROVERSAL ESSAY FOR ENGLISH CLASS
Mr VJP replied to Robinson446's topic in General Chit Chat
Robinson, I like Ted. I think he is a good guy to have on our side. He is well informed and can debate hunting and fishing like nobody else can. But if you Google his name, you should find some of the less admirable things he has done in his life, most of which have nothing to do with hunting. That being said, I can not understand why anyone who hunts, or owns guns, would want to throw stones in his direction. I fail to see how there is anything for us to gain by doing that. -
I respect Ted as a well informed, well spoken, well known hunter and gun owner. I don't think anyone can handle a firearm or hunting debate better than he can. I've watched him on video, and heard him on the air, defending firearms ownership and hunting. He knows his stuff, puts his money where his mouth is, and walks the walk. Because of all of the above, I'm willing to overlook any personal shortcomings adversaries would like to point out, which have nothing to do with gun ownership or hunting. Often the best emissaries we have, are the ones that get attacked the most.

Going to be about $1700. It better be a great gun.

Any objections to joining the military? It's probably the best way to become a police officer, or even a gunsmith for that matter.

This is an old video, but I think it needs to be viewed more often. Texas girl, Judy Dorsett Tyler, had the encroachment on her second amendment rights so graphically illustrated. The senator from New York, Chuck Schumer, was getting a little uncomfortable in his chair. The room was absolutely dead quiet throughout her testimony and the gun banners (meaning Senators who want to BAN citizens' ownership of all guns) absolutely speechless as this little Texas gal chews them up and spits them out. She knows what the 2nd amendment is really all about. Watch it. You will be glad you did. And please pass it along. Suzanna Gratia-Hupp: What the Second Amendment is REALLY For

Is the NRA giving us a con-job ???
Mr VJP replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I've said it before, but it bears repeating. If you ain't NRA, you're nothing! -
You will find the synthetic stocked model will be a lot less to worry about in the field. You won't have to worry about cracks either. It should be a little lighter, but will also feel colder and make more noise. I prefer synthetic myself though. I don't think you will notice any difference in recoil with a 30-06.

Is that what you have been led to believe? Better check your facts with an unbiased source as you are being taken for a long ride. Seems your group feeds you lies because they want your money. -
Is the NRA giving us a con-job ???
Mr VJP replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Is there an "or else!" with that? The NRA doesn't need NY, or any other state that is Left wing, Liberal and anti-gun. These states need the NRA! But with attitudes like NY's gun owners, they are not very likely to come to NY's aid, especially when NYer's don't even support them. The NRA has got it's hands full with national anti-gun battles. If a state wants their help with state anti-gun issues, the gun owners in that state better wise up and join the NRA. Otherwise, what reason do they have to help you? -

Get back to me when they actually accomplish something. Perhaps the NRA is more interested in helping states that have a lot of NRA members. Why should they get involved with a state where gun owners seem to be OK with laws that infringe on their gun rights? Maybe if NY had more members, the NRA would get involved, knowing they would be supported. But with anti gun politicians constantly getting elected here, like Cuomo, and relatively few NRA members, what do you expect? Like I said before, 95% of gun owners are getting a lot of free help from the NRA. In return they criticize their efforts and join other gun groups. That's gratitude for ya. I have no use for gun owners who don't understand that. -

And the 2nd Amendment Foundation bashes the NRA every chance they get. That's why you have the anti-NRA opinion that you have. You are listening to too much anti-NRA propaganda being spewed by organizations that thinks they can get in on the power that the NRA has earned over more than a century of existence and accomplishment. I have no tolerance for any so called gun rights organization that attacks the NRA in order to elevate itself. If it were truly interested in your gun rights, they would work with the NRA in it's fights, not work against them. Divide and conquer is the best strategy the anti-gun crowd has. These other "gun rights" groups are falling right into their trap. Some of these groups were even started by anti-gun individuals with the hope of luring some people away from the NRA. If you think the NRA should fight every single gun battle in this country, especially at the state level, you should be calling for every gun owner in the country to join them so they might be able to pay for it. I'm glad the 2nd Amendment Foundation fights these battles, but knocking the NRA for not doing so is where they show their true colors. Join any group you like, but if your group wants to attack another gun rights group, you better start asking yourself why. Better still, join any other group you like as long as you're an NRA member first! P.S. Only 5% of gun owners are NRA members. The other 95% are getting a great deal of help with their gun rights considering the little bit of money the NRA has to work with. There would be no anti-gun movement in this country if every gun owner was an NRA member. Also, I don't know what fight the 2nd Amendment Foundation is waging for NYers, but it doesn't seem to be working, because NY's gun laws are almost the worst of any state in America, and getting worse all the time. -
Gut, do you qualify later on when you eventually earn enough? I mean, will you be able to open a new claim after a few weeks of additional earnings? If not, that is just plain ridiculous. People who work part time while on unemployment should not be held to the time limit on their claim. They should be able to collect part time benefits until it runs out and then reapply if they still haven't been able to find full time work. Perhaps because you were full time for a while, that messed things up? I really think this is the government's way of reducing the number of people it counts as unemployed in the country these days. If they kick you off unemployment, they can say the percentage of unemployed has gone down, when in reality, only the percentage of people collecting unemployment has gone down. >

All of the reviews on the 750 do say it is a positive advancement in the Remington semi auto rifle evolution. I don't own one, but I did look at one in .35 Whelen that I almost bought. I think you will find it to be an excellent hunting rifle. Good luck with it. I hope you use it in good health for many years to come.

I like the Vinci and this sounds like what many have waited for. I just hope the name "Super" doesn't also reflect the asking price for it.

Is the NRA giving us a con-job ???
Mr VJP replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
If the NRA didn't have to WASTE money fighting the constant gun rights battle, they could use the money they get from dues and contributions to do positive things, like build shooting ranges, buy more lands to hunt (like Whittingham) and train more people in the safe handling and shooting of firearms. What huge bank account do you think they have? All of the money they take in annually is spent! Why do you think they are always asking members to help? I can understand an uniformed reason for not liking the NRA, but some are so misinformed it's scary. -
I have to caution people on comparisons between killing deer in upstate NY, with deer from states down in the south. NY deer a often large, big bodied deer with thick hair on their skin. Southern deer are smaller and the hair on their hide is not as thick. Cartridges like the .22-250 may not perform as well on NY's larger whitetail deer.
-
With a bullet of .22 caliber, shot placement is critical, as is the bullet's construction. If the bullet is not designed to penetrate, it will most likely explode on impact and never get to anything vital. I've seen deer taken with a .223 using 75 grain soft point bullets, but I do not know if a bullet that heavy is available for a 22-250.

That explains why I never got any rewards. I don't think I'll ever spend $300 in one year at Dick's. Most of their stuff is either not what I'm looking for, or more expensive than I can get it elsewhere.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear you quit drinking before you joined though. ;D

Look at the Redfield Revolution scopes. Made in the USA by Leupold with a FULL Lifetime warranty. You can't beat the price either.

My biggest kill was 300 pounds, but it was a black bear, not a deer. ;D Fortunately it was an easy downhill drag to the road. I saw a show on TV where guys were hunting Red Stag in some other country. It was steep mountainous terrain. After they shot this 1000 lb beast, they had a little helicopter come in and fly it out, hanging from it on a 20 foot rope tied to the antlers. Weird sight to see that flying over your head in the woods! ???
