  1. Since a ballista is like a crossbow, I'd assume that I can launch one within 500 in CT, nice!
  2. Just be careful not to launch over a public road.
  3. I can't wait till they allow catapults and ballistas into archery season.
  4. Thanks for being patient. The lights and the kits are actually here, but like I said previously, I'm not willing to release a product in not totally happy with. I'm anal like that. I'm having the manufacturer recall over 100 modules due to a mistake they made during production. I'm waiting on that. Once that's sorted out, you'll be the first to know.
  5. By that analogy, you may want to look into hunting with rock. I agree that being out there is important, but so is confidence in your hunting implement and knowing its advantages.
  6. Air guns is going to be future in terms of gaining access to reserved landowners that need help in praying and also establishing a good relationship to gain access for small game and big game down the road. I'm very surprised you are able to get that type of accuracy out of springers and multi-pumps. Must be one heck of a shot! Keep us posted!
  7. Nor does the ape apparently. Not talking about you of course.
  8. That was quick. I didn't think the quota was reached yet.
  9. Agree with most of what you said except speed for target. Speed helps in target range estimations. It may not help you, or you may not want to admit that it helps, but there's a reason why its marketed so heavily and why everyone is buying into speed. It's because archery is gaining more popularity, an more new people are entering the scene. Starting out with the easiest setup is the way to go to keep interest high and getting more people involved. If you were a true conservationist you would see the long term value faster arrows brings to the table. If faster arrows is for target, then I'd imagine the Olympic shooters are shooting feather light arrows, we all know that's not true.
  10. I have enough fun comparing you to an ape.
  11. So no, you don't know the answer. You're not only an asshat, but a bullshitter.
  12. Biz, I'd be surprised if anyone knows this answer. A lot of talk about windage and momentum, but how many actually think about wind when they get all excited. How many times have we seen people post about missing deer because they misjudged distance? "I gave it a haircut" or "the arrow hit low". All of which a faster arrow would have helped in these situations. In regards to a pulled shot to the left or right, has nothing to do with arrow weight and bow speed. Someone that will pull on a faster arrow will also pull on a heavier one. We're not talking about side to side errors here, just vertical.
  13. That must be why most predator hunters use heavy bullets with less than 1000 fps speeds, because its just more accurate and retains more energy.... said no one, ever.
  14. And for some, this is as accurate as they will ever care to be. If one can't afford the care to practice with a heavier arrow, what makes one think they would know exactly how far the target is an know which pin to use?
  15. I'm not exactly an expert in the bacteria myself, but being exposed to it in the aquarium hobby, I know a little more about it and wanted to clear up any misconceptions. The bacteria, like most algae thrives in certain conditions, mostly strong sunlight and stagnant waters. Once established, its very hard to remove, as there isn't a fish that would touch it. At least with a true algae, it produces O2 for fish during daylight hours, but BGA only consumes. Some lakes get read bad with it and starts to float instead of adhering to the bottom. One can find as much info as they desire by searching for the correct terms in Google and visiting planted tank forums, such as theplantedtank.com. Blue green algae, BGA, bacteria algae, etc.
  16. 3 minutes, not bad DW. Get a life. If you can't understand how a faster arrow helps with accuracy, then there's no point in explaining it to you. Go back to school and educate yourself in physics.
  17. I'm surprised folks don't practice and preach never too much arrow like some do with guns. Shot placement is key, and if a faster arrow helps get that, some of you really should consider it.
  18. That's correct, no max, yet. Which PCP are you shooting?
  19. Blue green algae is not really an algae at all, it's bacteria that uses sunlight. Just wanted to clear that up. In the aquarium hobby, one cannot treat blue green like it was a plant. It occurs both in salt and freshwater.
  20. It is illegal to hunt with any rifle in LI. Airguns can be effective up to and beyond 100 yards, if the shooter does his part. My current groupings at 100 yards is under 2" with my air gun.
  21. Only got a 5.5lb laker today, the rest were LMB and some yellow perch. All the Smallies were tiny today.
  22. I don't believe DMP tags are included in the lifetime now, I hear it used to be. I you purchase the lifetime for NY now, it matters not where you live afterwards, you will continue to receive your lifetime regardless of residence. No extra fees.
  23. B, since I suck at salt, I had to turn to something! In regards to bait vs lure, its mostly about preference and challenge.
