Crosman Airbow, $849 air-powered arrows @ 450 FPS
shawnhu replied to Core's topic in General Hunting
But this implement still isn't on the table for 2016... Only seabass and big bore airguns is open to public comment I believe at this time. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems -

Evolution is a great thing Doc, embrace it. We don't hunt with spears and rocks anymore. If you are so concerned with it taking away from your bow season, do something about it, in another thread. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems -
NYC has a whopping 66 assembly districts! Thoughts?

Hunting is allowed in region 2 as of currently. You just need to know how and with what. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems -

Same could be said about your paranoia of losing your bow season. Has nothing to do with this thread. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems -

I'm guessing all this talk about how the .223 is unethical and too small a caliber has something to do with it. If a center fire is unethical for killing deer, I can't see how one can argue a stick and string isn't. At the rate some of you want things to go, only a 50 BMG would be allowed and archery season closed. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems -

Luckily, doesn't apply to single shots/bolt actions. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems -

Arrow guns have been around for much longer than most think. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems -
If I were you, I'd solicit trap and skeet establishments and spread the word around gun clubs associated with anything wing shooting related to bring awareness to the untapped NYC population. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems

What do you call Staten Island? Most city folk drive within an hour and they are at their deer and squirrel spots. I'm not sure that's possible for dove. I wonder how many city folks would be willing to travel in excess of that to scout for doves. But regardless of the opportunities or lack thereof for doves, getting NYC Hunters to organize would seem challenging. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems

Maybe if there was actually a place for NYC folks to hunt dove, you might get more of a response. Most hunters that I know who reside in the city are already struggling to learn the ropes for species they can easily access within reasonable distances, such as deer and squirrel. I wouldn't call them made in USA, more like assembled in USA. Parts are still sourced from China, specifically the "glass". X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems

Here's a free bump for you Larry. Biz, how do you like the roar? I find it too "manly" for the little bucks I generally see in 3S, 3N. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems

In post #43 you compare ammo fired from a 22LR to that of an RWS Diana 48. This was in direct response to a post Chris wrote regarding taking squirrels with subsonic 22LR ammo behind the shoulder. If you are not trying to make some kind of link between the two, maybe you shouldn't have compared them. I simply stated that a .22 pellet rifle powered by a spring piston is inferior IMO to a 22LR for the reasons already stated and would much prefer the equivalent in .177 due to sectional density and identical power plant. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
-
I don't think we need to resort to personal attacks, but I'll gladly comply if that's your thing. Powder burners do not require the artillery hold to maximize accuracy, spring piston powered Airguns do. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
-
You're right. It's not a break barrel, but it is a spring piston, which all break barrels are powered by. The same applies, artillery hold. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
-
Unfortunately, it's a break barrel, and would require the artillery hold to maximize its accuracy. In break barrel Airguns, there's not many benefits that I can see in going larger in caliber since the power plant is identical to that of a smaller caliber. I would consider a pigeon at 35yds an easier shot than a neck shock on a grey at the same distance. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems

Unfortunately, there isn't many cheap, quality .22 pellet rifles that does not require the artillery hold to be accurate. I would sooner get a .177 in an airgun than a .22 If I must have a .22, it would be a .22 LR. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems
