We always see bear early season near our swamp bc of the berries then once the berries are gone so are the bear Oct 1st will give us 2 more weeks to hunt them.

I had 4-5 different bears, then just fawns and does when I pulled my chip this being the largest.

I'm dying to get back up and out but with a 3 week old, sons communion this sat. wedding anniversary next sat. I was lucky to pull off the two nights two days of hunting trip I already did. I think I might just be able to shoot up in the 20's some where for sunrise se hunt till noon and then go to work the same night ill be tired but atleast ill get in one more hunt.

I just planted 25 of each red oak, white pine, persimmon, wild plum , black gum, black cherry, elderberry, blackberry,hazelnut. You mentioned wildplum how do they do?

I didn't weigh it but it had a 9 3/4" beard and 3/4" spurs. Prob close to 20 lbs. Judging by carrying it.

Headed out this am with my brother who never shot a turkeys before set up in a spot I've previously got turkeys they started gobbling at first light however when they came in I was the only one with a clean shot at 10 yards. So maybe tomorrow will be his day.

For box calls what type of wood do you like the best? Also where do you buy to make sure its extremely dry, lumber yards,home depot?

I have been reading online about box call making, I am a pretty handy guy and was going to give it a shot start simple and work up from there. Does anyone else on here play around with their own calls.

Or if its in the middle of the woods just do it and say its always been like that. this state has a little to much to say about what people can do with their own property. If it boiled down to more then fees and money it would be legit but.....

Awesome guys thanks for the help the meter seems so much easier then sending samples. Plus I am sure you can google amounts of nitrogen per acre based on the current ph and the goal ph.

Does anyone have any experience with the Biologic "meter type" ph tester? What is better or worse that type the soil testing kits from say White tail Institue or I there a place that you can send your samples and how do you collect and ship them?
