I saw about 10 deer today in Sullivan county and it was windy as hell! Only does and button bucks but deer, also this morning was windy and pouring and the second the sun rose I had 3 deer at 20 yards. The only thing I did notice as my own observation was real windy rainy days the gather in open fields longer.

I change my socks after I stop sweating once I settle in to dry socks works like a charm also loose boots let's you create. Heated pocket of warm air inside.

Thurs full day in Sullivan then back to the island Sat 2nd half, Sun 1st half. That's bullshit about your stand I found someone's the other day on public land I thought they were taking a risk but I would never touch it let alone steal it. However it is very close to a spot I like and if I'm in first I'm not moving bc you hung a stand. And don't have a climber with you.

I have ar in my area and I feel like after the 3rd year there was a definite increase in mature bucks. I'm all for it and restricting either sex tags in wmu's with no dmp's easy if you take a doe there you get a fine and lose your deer.

Maybe bear over bait but here in NY with no baiting and depending on what they eat mine was delicious I made chilli for camp with chunks of black bear and venison the bear dissolved in your mouth. My bro actually had one he guessed at 250 at about 45 yrds outside a swamp on Sunday but it presented no shot and that is a tricky spot things can go MIA in that swamp quite easy.

I shot a bear a few years ago and the meat is delicous my wife loves the chopmeat cut with beef burgers but my bear also ate prob primarilly berries no dumps, camps, curbside garbage,etc...

Haha I agree but a night in climber or any of my homemades, ladder, or hangon stands and I would need a serious chiropracter and I'm a young guy. Listen I am insane about hunting and whenever I find someone equal or more crazy then me it is a tip of the hat to them!

Haha speaking of fresh sign I have seen some nice rubs, but I hunted a tree on Friday night that i thought I found for myself when I got settled in someones hool and hinged bowholder were left in the tree. I didn't see anything but I made a nice scrape at 20 yards along a beaten trail. I will be back to hunt that stand again hopefully gets a little movement but I know it's fake if this other guys sees it he will be pretty excited. This is my second mockscrape on public land it's kind of funny bc others will see them.

Hunted 3-dark tonight saw nothing tried a new spot a few cars leaving area at dark so I had company. Hunted over fresh rubs but no action only a half dozen hens.

I find with high wind deer (doe) congregate in the middle of open fields for better use of vision I think since smell and hearing must be thrown off in woods due to wind and come Nov guess who else will be there.

I personally wouldn't eat a deer the swelled up in these temps. But in a case like this the deer is shot if you let it sit over night you might lose the meat, the rack. If you push it you run the risk of losing everything and the deer still dies. If you have confidence in your shot and actual good blood I would wait 4 hrs if you lack either come back in the morning. We pushed a deer last year into a swamp a giant 8 my bro shot had we waited he would have found in a few hours where we saw it bed down. Instead he found it by smell on the other side of the swamp 3 weeks later. It only ran 300 yards thru swamp and dropped. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that just bc you didn't push it a yote, or another buck being opportunistic and picking on a more mature buck bc its injured might.
