What do you guys do if you are planting a combo of say wheat/clover and diffrent fertilizer combos are suggested ex. 12-12-12 and 6-24-24?
-
I was considering 4 1/2 acre plots spread apart and 3 people hunt the property so to put an early season plot a mid season and a late season in front of diffrent stands would be almost not fair I would have to do maybe to 4- 3/4 acre plots and split each 3/4's into 1/4's of diffrent seeds so that noones stand get neglacted during parts of the season. Make sense or am I wrong in that thinking?

Thank you guys for your help so far I am def pursueing this. The marsh area is about 5-6 acres and gets full sunlight. The perfect thing is adjancent to my property my wet are becomes a legit swamp however the second hunting pressure peaks they lay down in that swamp alot the plots and apple will just give them reason to walk my way and not the other. What equipment do you guys use atv or tractor?

I own 32 acres mostly wooded and rocky but in the middle of the land is a creek bottom low area that floods occasionally and is made up of swamp grass and some thickets. I am looking to plant something down there I have acces to a tractor and own an atv. I am looking to pick some brains on here on what plants are recomended and how to get started. I am also going to plant about 12-24 crabapple trees. I also have about 900'x75' of a power line clearing I want to knock down a section of and plant. Both areas I will be leaving some thickets for cover such as bedding or so they feel comfortable approaching. I wil try to post some pics of the 2 areas after my next time up. I would love to plant an assortment something they would feed on in the spring/summer but def some sort of fall/winter attractment. Any help would be appreciated. My friend down the road owns the tractor and we will be planting some plots in his hay feilds also. Thank you in advance.

Three times this year I have had 3 seperate 8 point at first light in 2 seperate stand one on public land LI and one on private upstate. But usually I dont like the mornings at all especially upstate my stands are deep in the woods and it takes a little while for them to filter in but 2 miles away my buddy has 2 nice feild edge stands that he has to get into way before light so they come back after he spooks them getting to his stand before they decide to just leave the feild until later he also needs to be in for an afternoon early so he doesnt bump them on their way back.

Hunted today in to diffrent spots both of which Ive seen bucks but only one doe in the pooring rain.
-
Im pretty sure you do have bears in pine bush!

1 deer in the distance today hunted sunup-10 am same spot the buck came from yesterday but used a different trail never came close enough to see what it was and my binocs were trimed from the arsenal after my equipment mishaps essentials only and if I need to glass it I can't hit with an arrow anyway. Slow morning but its usually a good afternoon doe spot that buck was crusing bc a lot of scrapes along trail my try one spot am and another afternoon just hate moving in the rain.

Very possibly this is the guy from today very close to where I think he beds and where pic was taken he came from that way loaded with scrapes and rubs.

Thank you Karp. BTW I grew up in Hicksville and my family still loves there. But my last 3 encounters. 11/?/10 - big 8 chasing doe down the hill in front of my stand upstate doe stops 20 yards out broadside buck waits in brush staring she moves behind me bc I turned right to postition for shot buck steps out I draw she screams he runs. FORGOT TO MIND THE DOE! 11/6/11 - same stand same senario also a nice 8 this time I mind the doe her head behind a tree I go to draw and also turned to my right my fall harness lanyard is straight to the tree behind me my elbow gets caught I cant come to full draw it makes noise against tree bark then he jumps and bolts. 11/8/11 -2 days later (see above). hahah Ive let a few smaller bucks walk this year and last but everytime Ive made an attempt its been 3 strikes so far. I did have a mother and 4 cubs pass directly under stand on the 6th pretty cool to watch.

blew a shot at an absolute giant today was noding off a little after a few days hunting upstate looked to my left at 730 saw a white tail up in the air cruising through brush so i stood up, saw head lift up it was a giant. I grabed my bow and when I reached down you clip my release on the string my release tapped into my bleat can in my pocket one little tap he stopped dead in tracks didnt know I was there but heard it and it was to much for him so he froze and so did i after 5 mins of him still as a statue and me too hes at 40 yard behind a pine he decide it was a little to much to handle jumped all for feet off ground spun 180 and split. it got real hot so i left for work at 930place is littered with scrapes im headed out for mornings tommorow and fri before work and full days thurs, sat and sun possibly mon. a few nice bucks down this weekend by people i know i saw some good chsing up at my property and botched another opurtunityt at an 8 but that is another story im learning hard lessons this year.

I will do that on public land in dec. not as many people in the woods and I can GPS new spots for next year.
-
I only do on the way in and out and its more of a be ready to shoot then actual still hunting my property upstate is not good for still hunting on 32 acre and on LI I dont like to do it and screw up other peoples hunts.

Hunted this morning from dark-10 saw one doe creeping alone at 9. Kicked up 4 does on the way out. I saw a small 6 harassing a doe last week but nothing since and Ive seen a spike since usually its the young guys first. My uncle hunts rockland everyday before and after work and same thing had a spike chase a bit last week just lonely does all this week. My bro was in sullivan county today just a spike and a button understand. So I think we have until next week before the real chasing kicks off. Very warm still. I'll be back on LI for an am on tues maybe a full day depending on the action.
