One of the issues that liberals and gun control advocates are most loath to discuss is how heavily and effectively totalitarians and mass murderers have relied upon gun registration and other firearms controls to round up “enemies of the state.” HITLER, STALIN, CASTRO, and MUSSOLINI all seized upon gun laws to punish, incarcerate, and even exterminate their opponents, while permitting their own evil cliques to expand and strengthen the state and party monopolies on gun ownership. https://fee.org/articles/gun-control-preceded-the-tyranny-in-venezuela/?fbclid=IwAR0vcRfEx9hTEChDYu3IU_c1Bcb6FCwv4Lpqnwc4uKsLcoqk4IQE-0MC3zQ

John Lott, an economist and guns rights advocate, argues in both More Guns, Less Crime and The Bias Against Guns that media coverage of defensive gun use is rare, noting that in general, only shootings ending in fatalities are discussed in news stories. In More Guns, Less Crime, Lott writes that "[s]ince in many defensive cases a handgun is simply brandished, and no one is harmed, many defensive uses are never even reported to the police". Attempting to quantify this phenomenon, in the first edition of the book, published in May 1998, Lott wrote that "national surveys" suggested that "98 percent of the time that people use guns defensively, they merely have to brandish a weapon to break off an attack." The higher the rate of defensive gun uses that do not end in the attacker being killed or wounded, the easier it is to explain why defensive gun uses are not covered by the media without reference to media bias. Lott cited the figure frequently in the media, including publications like The Wall Street Journal[27] and the Los Angeles Times.[28]

Survey data indicate that in 95% of cases when people use guns defensively, they merely show the gun to make the criminal back off. Many crimes also go unreported, so it is likely that many defensive gun uses are never known to the police – and thus unknown to the media. Numbers from the Bureau of Justice Statistics show that less than half of violent crime victims report violent crime to police. https://www.thecentersquare.com/national/op-ed-there-are-far-more-defensive-gun-uses-than-murders-here-s-why-you/article_7d5b4f5c-31a7-11ec-984d-b30a35ede8d5.html

Today the word is Biden is hoping to send a few million to Florida so they can knock down the school where the shooting just happened because they believe no child should have to go to school there after what happened. OK, you want a new school for the kids to go to, fine. But how is it legal to destroy a crime scene and all the evidence of the crime? Think about it. They cleaned up the room in the Las Vegas shooting and started construction where the crowd was. They demolished the school at Sandy Hook, and destroyed the kids home as well. They did it at Waco, TX after they burned that place down. Go back to the Kennedy killing and you will see they cleaned up the car he was in when they got it to the hospital, destroying all evidence of the killing that it could've provided. A lot of evidence is being destroyed at these crime scenes and the government is doing it. It's also becoming acceptable in the minds of citizens who think it is SOP to do it. Wake up folks.

Gov. Kathy Hochul and her Democrat leaders in the Legislature, announced a sweeping 10-bill package that again stomps on New York gun owners, while doing nothing to enhance public safety. This package includes legislation to further restrict magazines by eliminating grandfathering. They want to raise the age for purchasing a long gun and strengthen “red flag” laws. They have a “clearinghouse bill” so Draconian with its registration and record-keeping requirements that it will drive every dealer out of the state. Under their gun grab, they want to require a license to simply buy a semi-automatic firearm. This package is topped off with microstamping, a scheme which has not been successfully implemented in a single state and has nothing to do with any of the criminal acts they are purportedly trying to prevent. All of this is an indictment against the SAFE Act, and now they are doubling down on the same failure. They told you 9 years ago that their gun control would make the streets safe. It didn't, and now they are back with 10 more bills! While exploiting tragedy to pass their gun ban agenda, they have completely turned their backs on New Yorkers. They have left thriving cities to decay. Even more incredible, there is not one, single school safety bill in the mix. That is disgraceful! Please contact your state Senator and Assembly member today, and respectfully request that they oppose ALL gun control bills. The last scheduled session date is Thursday, June 2. They aim to ram this package through the legislative process and have it signed into law by the end of the week.

1 out of 3. That's bullshit.

I guess all those killing in Chicago, NY, LA and the rest of those gang kingdoms are being done by the Boy Scouts. And I'm sure every gang killer has been caught and convicted for every killing. Convicts always admit to everyone they killed too. Silly me. I guess the cops on the front lines are full of crap and don't know anything about the gangs in their area.

That's how my friends son got killed. Working in a gas station, thug comes in with a gun and demands cash. He was given all the money in the register, stood back and shot him in the heart. Took off in a car full of thugs. Nobody has ever been charged six years later. Cops told my friend this is how gangs initiate members. The kids you deal with are hang arounds, not real gangsters. They are not the ones that will do the real nasty gang work, until one day they are told to kill someone.
-
And after he got into the gang, he likely went on to bigger things and killed someone. Most gang initiations require the kid to kill someone and give the gun to the OG, so they always have something on him if he turns into a rat.

The FBI report does not include all the times a crime was stopped by brandishing a firearm and not having to fire it. Often having a firearm is all that's needed to stop a mugging, robbery, carjacking, assault, etc.

What's going on with the baby formula?

It may have been another intentional act to create a distraction from all of Biden's failures. Or it may just be more leftist tyranny and authoritarian abuse. Biden likes to show corporations they are required to kneel to the government. -
"Assault Rifle" is a misused term. It only applies to full auto combat weapons at best. Certainly not to Modern Sporting Rifles like the AR-15. It's a term used to create fear among the clueless. Any semi auto rifle that can take a detachable magazine is just as deadly as an AR-15. When they passed the so called "assault weapons" ban in NJ under Gov Jim Florio, they banned hundreds of rifles, including the M1 Carbine, but they had to specify by name, each and every banned rifle, otherwise the law would have been considered unconstitutionally vague. The law shows how clueless politicians are though, as the Mini-14 and Mini-30 are still legal in NJ because they don't take a bayonet or have a pistol grip. Every year NJ adds more rifles to the list. NY banned some rifles based upon cosmetic things, but there are many rifles allowed, like the M1 Carbine and Mini-14, that are just as deadly as an AR-15. The people who hate semi auto rifles are not qualified to be writing laws regulating them because they have no expertise in the area of semi auto weaponry. But that never stopped a politician before and probably never will. That's why we have so much bad legislation that doesn't work. To fixate on weapons, rather than the person misusing a weapon, is the biggest mistake of all. Violence will continue, no matter how many weapons are banned, as long as violent people are allowed to walk among us with impunity. But politicians, for some reason, refuse to deal with that issue. Probably because it would become an expense to the state to do so. I believe the main reason they voted to empty the jails was to save money, because the state of NY is going broke.

Political humor

This is a humor forum. People who take offense at humor are the people who killed stand up comedy. Ask any stand up comedian. How about we all just laugh at what we find funny and realize offense cannot be given, only taken. -
You're not seeing any name of anyone who pulled the trigger. They haven't officially said who shot him, but to me 2 + 2 = 4. Where did they say a "Border Patrol Team" took the shooter out?

"Steven C. McCraw, the director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, confirmed that Ramos was inside the elementary school for more than an hour before he was shot and killed by a Border Patrol officer."
-
In case anyone missed it, the man that took out the school shooter in Texas wasn't even an on duty officer. It was a parent, and spouse of a 4th grade teacher. He just happened to be a border patrol agent. He was getting a haircut when his wife started texting him that there was a school shooter. He grabbed the barbers shotgun, rushed to the school and ran into the school past 19 officers. He then evacuated his wife and daughter, made a plan with local officers for cover, and went back in and shot the suspect. That mans name is Jacob Albarado and he is the true hero in this story. Share his name. He deserves it. CBP officer Jacob Albarado runs into Uvalde school with barber's shotgun to save daughter (nypost.com) We need security personnel in schools that are willing and REQUIRED to take action when this happens. Not people who are there to protect their pensions and serve themselves. Veterans with combat experience get my vote.

All it takes to change the government is enough people wanting to do it. There are many here who see no reason to, or defend the status quo. I address issues with people wherever I see them. And if the person I debate with is not objective, many of the people reading on the sidelines probably are. The lead ammo ban has a lack of interest? Funny, it keeps coming back up every year. Somebody has an interest in passing it and they hope you lose interest in watching them try.
