  1. As long as hunting is open to anyone and everyone in the US, it will never be a sport that requires a ton of money to enjoy in this country. If you want to see how it has become a rich man's sport elsewhere, look at England, Africa and a lot of European countries that have created costly barriers to entry that make it impossible for the average man to enjoy the sport. The rich elites in those lands are the one's who installed those barriers too. Gotta keep all the riff raff out of the sport ya know. It is our responsibility to make sure similar barriers to entry are never allowed to happen here if we want our progeny to enjoy hunting in America.
  2. I bought a lifetime license years ago because it was a good investment. I knew license fees would continue to rise. As far as land to hunt goes, there are thousands of acres open to the public to hunt around me and most sees very little pressure. Hunting can still be affordable to everyone if you do the work to find out how to do it.
  3. In not quite 2 years, the new administration has managed to: 1) Put enough roadblocks in the way of domestic energy production that the cost of fuel doubled. 2) Flood cronies with trillions of taxpayer dollars 3) These both caused the highest inflation in 40 years 4) Weaken the international reputation of the country, emboldening an invasion of Ukraine and possibly Taiwan 5) Stop prosecuting violent criminals, causing a huge spike in violent crime 6) Stop teaching the basics in school, and instead forcing race and sex on elementary school kids. 7) Keep schools shut down so long that reading and math test scores plummeted. 8 ) Restrict the rebuilding of the supply chain with endless regulations 9) Utilize federal law enforcement to attack political opposition 10) Spend countless taxpayer dollars on a slick one-sided prime time soap opera which was intended to stop a former President from running again (which actually mattered to only 7% of the population) 11) Increase interest rates to a high enough level to increase monthly payments on student loans, home loans and other debt high enough to crush the poor and severely hamper the middle class. 12) Pass legislation which doubles the size of the IRS, so it can go after the poor and middle class much more effectively, and crush the gig economy and small businesses. (While lying about it only going after people making over $400K per year.) 13) Attempt to block freedom of speech of the individual if it disagrees with their agenda. 14) Increase government corruption to much higher levels. 15) Allow China, Russia, and Iran to increase their reigns of terror because the President’s family business took money from these people for influence peddling. I could go on, but you get the point. So, what is the case of the Democrats for staying in power and furthering their agenda toward central control and irrevocable dictatorship? That our democratic process is threatened. Oh, and abortion. Well, abortion is now being decided state by state, by a democratic process. And I’m pretty sure that a dictatorship is the opposite of democracy.
  4. Yep. Too many guys think money will increase success in the field. It doesn't, if you don't have the proper skill set mastered to begin with. I still use gear I've had for years and didn't pay much for when I bought it. I ask myself, "Is this something I want, or something I need?" If I don't "need" it, I don't usually buy it. Spending a lot of money is OK if you have a lot of money to spend, but it is by no means necessary to be successful while hunting. The basics skills of knowing how to hunt the animal you are after, will trump spending a lot on gear every time. I truly feel a lot of guys spend a lot on gear because they have never mastered the skills needed to get the game they're after, or learned how to dress to stay warm. They think if they spend more on the things marketers tell them will help them succeed, they will. A fool and his money are soon parted. Sure, a lot of stuff will make a hunt more comfortable, or satisfying, but that will all be forgotten when the bill comes if you spent more than your budget allows. Hunting isn't becoming a rich man's sport in this land. But a lot of rich men are into hunting. Let them pay for all the things they can't hunt without and be confident money cannot buy success, unless you are paying an outfitter to have the skills for you, or a high fence operation that will place a trophy buck in front of you.
  5. Yesterday was a little chilly and windy in the stand. I got up in it before sunrise and stayed until 9:30 AM when I had to head in. The trees look great with all the golden leaves on them, but the shorter younger trees around my stand are blocking my view. I didn't see a thing all morning. When I got down at 9:30 AM I took about 6 steps and heard a deer blow about 40 yards away in the trees full of leaves. I couldn't even see it in those trees. I hope it was a doe. I have no idea if it was there for awhile or just coming to me. I'm really looking forward to all the leaves falling down.
  6. We have a lot of rich people who crave power and control to subjugate us all, and stupid people vote for them.
  7. Allow Hochul to stay in the State House and your life in prison may matter to you. Then again, maybe not.
  8. Like Ron White said, "Ya can't fix stupid." What do you call a hunter and gun owner that votes for Democrats?
  9. Nope. There are many ways to vote. What concerns me are the stupid ways. Voting for the people who are pushing the dictatorship is the stupid way.
  10. "The right that I pushed hard and I finally got changed to marry couples in the privacy of their bedroom." —Joe Biden
  11. "[Biden has] had a better two years than most presidents that you can name." —House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "There's a thing called the Ninth Amendment. It says there's a right to privacy." —Joe Biden
  12. Nobody is above the law? A leftist in a DC courtroom certainly is. You can't get a jury that doesn't consist of swamp dwellers down there.
