Back then many men could only afford one gun, so the shotgun was chosen as a do it all tool for hunting. It looks like the kid has a single shot of the H&R variety, maybe a Stevens.

Now that is something that should be a crime, considering all the damage they do when in office.

I think the point was we are not supposed to wear anything white while deer hunting. -
To me, this seems pretty stupid, but they charged him with a crime. This is what NY thinks is criminal behavior? I think NY has plenty of serious crime it could be attacking, and this ain't it.

I'm confused. And I know of a number of high fence deer hunting places that raise their deer inside their fenced in hunting operation.

Once I hear the phrase "deer on the farm", I think of fences and feeders and big deer that are not wild. These deer make impressive mounts on the wall, but the hunter doesn't have a real adventurous, challenging, skill filled hunting experience to tell with it. This is what I think the desire for big antlers has created. The chance to pay a fortune to score a big antlered buck and show it off. The hunters can't claim to have strength or endurance as a skill set, as most are elderly and look like they couldn't make it to the top of my hill to hunt. They seem to be filling a bucket list with cash they don't want to leave to their heirs. The younger guys are hunting from an elevated stand with all the comforts of home and waiting for the feeder to go off to bring the deer in. Challenging? When I see these shows on TV, all I can think is how the public thinks this is what hunting is like today. It's sad.

When I was a kid we started hunting squirrels with "Wrist Rockets" and ball bearings when we found BB guns were not powerful enough. You get real good with them with lots of practice. It was fun and effective.

The only thing I can say about this is, Some people I know think I waste a lot of time hunting and should be doing other things that need to be done. When I'm successful in the field, with small game, waterfowl or deer, they seem surprised and actually applaud. It proves to them I have a skill set they do not, and they admire it. I can't say that doesn't make me proud.

I always felt the question "Why do you hunt?", coming from non-hunters is best answered with the question, "Why don't you hunt?" As for me, I hunt, and fish, for them same reason. I like to. If I have to explain it to you, you would never understand. I know a few people who like nothing better than staying home in their house. I don't ask them to explain, because I will never understand.

I never followed most of the threads on this site that didn't appeal to me and just posted this because I happened to notice how long it's been since any new member was approved. Why would this get someone banned and why is that funny?

None of this will change until voters stop giving a single party total in power in Albany, that can do whatever the hell it wants to do, even if it's completely unconstitutional. I doubt the founders ever envisioned a populace dumb enough to vote for anyone who violates the US Constitution at every turn.

I noticed this on the main page. If this is so, it's no wonder the site is so slow. Newest Member Mikelicc Joined February 26, 2022

I don't think hunting's demise will end until will effectively address the demise of the entire country. Hunting's future depends on the country's future.
