Important Discussions , Political Section
Grouse replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in General Chit Chat
It's funny that thread was posted in the General Chit Chat section, when it is obviously political and would've been moved to the political section in the past by the guy that started the thread. Hunting is threatened by politics. Lots of hunters don't want to think about it and prefer to make believe it isn't. There's an old adage that says, "There are 3 types of people in the world, those that make things happen, those that watch things happen, and those that ask, "What happened?". A hunter not remaining informed about politics is in the latter position. I can understand how the political section was isolated from general posts because of people complaining it took up most of their feed, but to me that proves how bad political threats to hunting have become. I don't think it wise to ignore that. Like anything else, many folks would rather avoid a fight than defend their rights, and our enemies count on that. -
Just change the animals to deer and coyote.

From the article, "The legislation excludes contests for hunting white-tailed deer, turkeys and bears, as well as fishing contests, which are carefully regulated by the state." Aren't coyotes "carefully regulated by the state" as well? What's wrong with a yote contest during yote season? What's wrong with a prize for the heaviest yote taken? Seems to me the state wants to protect yotes and increase their numbers. Why do you suppose the state would do that?

The case for the 7mm-08 being the best whitetail round.
Grouse replied to Grouse's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
The 7mm-08 was commercialized as a factory round in 1980 after many years winning as a wildcat round in the silhouette shooting world. -

The case for the 7mm-08 being the best whitetail round.
Grouse replied to Grouse's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
The article is making a case for the 7mm-08 being the best whitetail round considering a multitude of factors from ballistics to recoil. It doesn't claim other rounds aren't good for deer hunting. It simply makes a case why the 7mm-08 has advantages over other rounds. Nobody is saying anyone needs to buy a new rifle in 7mm-08, but if a new hunter is getting into deer hunting and needs his first deer rifle, the case being made is a 7mm-08 might be his best choice. At the end of the article, the author even makes a request of the reader. He asks for a good debate. Is anyone going to accept his challenge and refute his case with counterpoints? -
The Colorado Supreme Court has now set up expectations for Democrats across the country that Trump can be legally barred from the presidency — and when the Supreme Court overturns that Colorado Supreme Court ruling, they will claim that the Supreme Court itself is rigged. All of which means that 2024 is going to be the most insane and ugly presidential election in American history. And that's saying a lot, since 1968 and 2020 are both years that existed. Under what circumstances, precisely, would Democrats accept the result of a Trump election? Under what circumstances, precisely, would Republicans accept the result of a Biden election? The weaponization of the legal system creates an all-consuming fire, burning everything in its path. There is simply no 2024 result likely to result in anything but complete — and perhaps violent — chaos at this point.

They did it to prove how activist they are. The SCOTUS is going to hear the case and Trump will be on the ballot. Then leftists will scream the SCOTUS is corrupt and move to pack the court with more activist judges like the ones in CO. "A state court has found Trump guilty of a federal crime with which he's never even been charged, based on informal allegations of unlawful conduct that took place 2,000 miles from the court's jurisdiction. This is patently absurd." —Ed Morrissey "The U.S. has put sanctions on other countries for doing exactly what the Colorado Supreme Court has done." —Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL)

Can NY taxpayers afford this? Gov. Kathy Hochul is expected to sign legislation Tuesday which would create a community commission that would look into potential slavery reparation remedies, according to the bill’s sponsor, state Assembly Member Michaelle Solages. The commission would be tasked with studying the state's history of slavery and how to repair its lasting impacts on descendants of enslaved New Yorkers. Slavery remained legal in New York until 1827. The commission would be comprised of nine members with three members chosen by each the governor, state Assembly Speaker and majority leader of the state Senate. The members would have to submit a report of their findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than one year after the date of the commission’s first meeting.
