Highest taxes, highest auto insurance rates, sky-high crime, yet legal gun owners remain the target of NYS. Proposed legislation Assembly Bill AB-3855. This impacts hunters as well as any other gun owner. Think hunting will thrive in NY if this becomes law? It may not pass, but the fact it is even proposed proves NY Democrats hate you. Any NY gun owner that votes for ANY Democrat is a fool!

Revolts have been very successful against the US with it's jets and missiles and such. The North Vietnamese and Taliban both beat the US military. They outnumbered the US military forces and were willing to die for their cause. Cuban rebels beat their military for the same reason. Iran "students" forced the US out of Iran. It is not as impossible as the government would have you believe. And when people like Biden start telling you that you can't win, he knows you want to and is afraid you will try. -

Is Civil War Possible?

Didn't you see the standoff between the ranchers and the Feds a few years ago? The Feds backed down and the ranchers won what they were after. It only takes about 10% of the population in revolt to overthrow tyranny. I believe less than 10% fought the British during the Revolutionary war. -
Will We Be Next??

More proof the anti's are never going to stop their assault on your right to defend yourself. You cannot compromise your rights. If you try to appease these enemies, you will lose everything in the end. -

I keep saying I do not believe we are going to be able to vote our way out of this mess. It's time to make a stand. Everyone in Texas should stand up to the Feds if they show up and let them know they will fight if they have to. Then anyone who wants to volunteer to go down there and help resist the Feds should go there ASAP. I firmly believe all of this leftist nonsense will end once people stand up and say this is where we draw the line. Let the Fed know they will have to fight the people if they want to do this. If they choose to fight, then we know they've intended to enslave us all along. "If war is to come, let it come in my time, so my children may live in peace." -
There is a way to have civil discourse about opinions, but that skill set is definitely lacking in this thread.

Hunting activity is dying because we didn't resist the attacks from the anti gun and anti hunting groups for decades. They have won. The public perception of hunting and hunters has been changed by those who oppose it. All the points listed above are factors, but just contribute to hunting's demise. Those opposed to hunting have time on their side. They have been working to end it and now know it's only a matter of time until all who pursue the sport die out. They will now move on to Part 2. Without hunting, guns are no longer needed. The same strategy of attacks will be used to change public perception of firearm ownership with the goal of eliminating it completely.

I think it's time to lock this thread up, since it has degenerated into a list of personal attacks.

I think some misunderstand what a great hunt is. It's a hunt that challenged you. One that required preparation, skill, knowledge of the prey, determination in the face of obstacles and long odds, and maybe some luck. When all of those elements combine and the hunter takes the game, that was a great hunt. That animal, regardless of it's size is a trophy and those are memories the hunter will take to the grave. When a hunter merely walks into the woods and randomly picks a spot to sit down but is lucky enough to kill a big 10 point at first legal shooting time, that produces a trophy for the wall, but is far from what amounts to a great hunt. So just stepping into the woods doesn't produce a great hunt. A great hunt is what keeps hunter's coming back for more. The desire for trophy bucks is what keeps some men paying to sit by a feeder in a high fenced establishment. Those guys can show off a wall mounted trophy but have no adventurous story to tell with it. Sure there a those who have great hunts and take huge whitetail, but I would guess that is less than 1% of licensed deer hunters and impossible for most deer hunters to emulate, due to the lifestyle they have chosen to live. On the other hand, most hunters can experience great hunts pursuing lesser game.

Winter Shooting Sheds...Anybody got any?
Grouse replied to Doc's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I have a mud room and deck on the back of my place. I have a 100 yard range set up with targets I shoot at off of my deck. I set up all my shooting supplies in the mud room and have a seat on the deck by the corner railing. I step outside, take a seat, set the rifle on the railing, load and shoot at the preset white styrofoam plates at 100 yards, (they last in wet weather and are easy to see holes in), check my group with binocs and go back inside to warm up, have coffee and clean and adjust the rifle. I do have to clean the snow off the deck sometimes, but the deck is only 12x12 so it's not a lot of work. I don't have any houses close to me and the neighbors I do have do not mind hearing me shoot on occasion. I'm most often just checking zero and not firing a lot of rounds.
