baraska, clover and sugar bee tmix maybe 1/4 acre
-
Thi splot is sugar beets planted in June. So far they seem untouched, but lots of other things around to eat for them right now. These are a late season/ winter plot anyway maybe 2/4 of an acre.
-
this is the big food plot alfalfa. it has been cut and bailed once for the cows. About 8 acres total. as well as the rest of the field is clover
-
a couple more. The building in the background is my camp
-
her are some pics of one of my food plos. Iwas at camp cutting wood tody, so I had to check them. This plot is imperial white clover, turnips and rape. This plot is about 2.5 acres

I will go year to year for now. I simply do not trust the system. Plus one day after I could transfer it to my nephew, I would kick off. No party needed yet, my health is fine.
-
once you do, you will be hooked.

cool I like bacon. Want to know where it is. I will let you know if ny land comes up for sale, but I doubt it would go through anyway.
-
and as the thread said hypothetical question and you did anything but answer it
-
ok so I own land I pay the taxes buy the seed to plant food plots. I also keep up the land as well as do what I can to keep the deer herd healthy. Why is it your or any one else's right to hunt my land? I am the cause hunting is dwindling because I had the gall to buy land and let whom I want to hunt it? I do let some people hunt my land. But I choose who and when. I always had the silly notion that since I own it, I can control it. I guess I was mistaken. I am a greedy bastard I guess. Such a sense of entitlement scares me.

i gotta agree with this chap, when they "attempt" to take away my right to hunt imma gonna get real ugly, i hear too many guy's here talkin about backup plans, going on vacations to hunt somewhere else, bird wayching, walking in the woods, for Christ sakes men grow a damned spine, anti's read this and they are gonna think we got milk for BLOOD!!!! oh God how dramatic. It was a hypothetical question designed to see where peoples morals are. There is a lot worse threads on here for anti's ammunition. It said if you got up one day and suddenly hunting was illegal. How do you fight that? It was intended also for the people who claim they need to kill three or four deer a year or starve. I was wondering how they would survive.
-
that is a good plan. I raise beef now, so I am not dependent on venison or other game. I find it a luxury instead of a necessity, which gives me a different outlook on hunting.
-
I am thinking about the people who rely on venison to feed families. How would you fill that void?
-
Some of the posts on here have had me thinking. My question si waht would you do if hunting were suddenly illegal today? I personally wouls till go to camp ad enjoy some photography as well as the friendship of camp. I have never depended on venison to survive, as where I hunt some years you do not get any. I would also fish more.

so far it all tastes good

and a couple more

a couple pics of the plants
-
That is a tough question to answer. It depends on the gun, caliber and your intended use. I personally reload and use Nosler bullets pretty regularly. it all depends on how your gun shoots them. Some will shoot better than others. As far as deer hunting, a normal winchester or remington bullet will work well.
-
Have you shot it yet?

I went to the range today with a couple rifles. My model 99 300 savage and my encore 25-06. I switched scopes on the savage, and wanted to dial it in. By the time I was finished, I was very happy. I am going to try to attach a picture of the gun and target at 100 yards. The strays was getting it dialed in with the new scope. The big hole at the top of the bullseye is 8 shots consecutively off the bench. This was my dad's only deer rifle. He bought it brand new in 1947. It is now one of my cherished pesessions. I load for it and I use 150 grain Hornady boat tails and 40 grains fo IMR 4895. My encore was another story. It was all over the place. I brought it home and tore it all apart cleaned and put it back together.
-
so I guess they are saying hunter education works. Mistaing a perswon for game whether they are wearing orange or not is not acceptable. KNOW your target and well beyond, not assume your target.
-
glad mine is for life so far anyway. it cost 17 bucks when I got it and took 3 weeks. That was back in 83 I think.
-
thanks I planted it to get at my sister. she eneds me invites for farmville and all other dumb games on facebook. I told her I was going to play real farmville and plant a garden.
