  1. see I like big deer too, but what they have on their heads means nothing to me. What they have on their haunches and ribs means much more. I would pass on a 160 pound 10 for a 180 pound 6 point anytime. That is because I do like the meat and the bone on their head is secondary to me.
  2. I guess that depends on how you define close. 3 hours or so. I have been invited to go down this year. If I do not, I will sign the tags over to the guys who do.
  3. if you truly hunt that way, why post about culling bucks like it is so important to your hunting management?
  4. Haha cull bucks. So you would prefer a 160 pound buck with bone than a 190 pound buck with scrub antlers. Genetics mean more than antlers. Body size is as important. But if you prefer non edible antlers and as it seems to me to be a lot of boasting go ahead.
  5. I went last night and got two for 7h
  6. I was in walmart today. Got two dmp for 7h. Now I need to get down there lol. Anyway there was a guy at the counter. He talked to the girl at the sporting goods counter and she reached under and pulled up two bags of the ground up sugar beet stuff. He paid for it and left. On the shelf there was four bags of deer cain concentrate and 2 gallons of deer cain already mixed. Last week there was none. More of a market than you would think.
  7. a trick I learned many years ago with side locks. Cut a small piece of suede leather and put it between the nipple and hammer when storing the gun in between hunts. The leather absorbs the moisture and keeps it away from powder. I have had my old hawken go off in a pouring rain storm using that method. I take a small piece of shoe lace and attach the leather to it and tie it to my trigger guard so I do not lose the leather.
  8. but noone turns them in for it. If I were in a store bragging about that, they would have the dec at my house before I got home. I just do not get why they seem to get a pass.
  9. pellets are known to draw moisture easier than loose. And their shelf life is much shorter than loose. Another reason I don't use them
  10. area 6 hunter here also mostly 6c but some in 6a welcome
  11. It depends on the weather when I am out. If it is damp I shoot it and clean it. If not I will leave it loaded all week of early ml season, and even eave it until late ml season if I did not shoot it. If I shoot it, I clean it that night and get it ready for the next day. I do the same with my renegade as I do my encore.
  12. I agree with that. However i might add do not come on here and push for antler restrictions and shoot button bucks for does. Seem hypocritical to me.
  13. there are laws against it in NY not sure about PA though. At least he was able to laugh about it.
  14. Vantassels north of Watertown on 37 is good also a small shop in lisbon NY grays gun shop is awesome. run by 3rd generation from the same family. I do all of my business there.
  15. he has some legal issues did a straw sale to an under cover trooper. Still open but under a lot of scrutiny.
  16. a couple nice ones here in my area 2 hours north of syracuse, but worth the drive.
