  1. I guess I have the mind set, if I miss a few, it is ok, I will still get up in the morning I hope. I learned to block a few, makes going through things a lot quicker. again LOL
  2. Like tughill, I would take it in a minute if it were closer. Cost me more in gas to get it than I would be paying for it. Plus here in the frozen north, that is a much more fancy tv than anyone has, and I don't want to look like I am bragging to the neighbors. Would be a nice camp tv though honestly.
  3. I purchase it from eds gun shop 27 dollars a container shipped, but you have to buy two containers. PM me if you want the contact info
  4. ok is is the older generation me generation.
  5. Gonna be sorry here, but again look up intent in legal books. Then you will answer your own question. And if you are hunting on a trail that goes to a bait pile, you are hunting over bait.
  6. if he fled the scene how do you know he was drunk?
  7. Noodle, I can certainly understand what you are saying. I am finding myself passing up more and more game as it passes by. I am to at the stage I enjoy opening my camp up to youth and a family member for a hunt. I try to pick one from every class I have. It is usually a child who does not have a lot of hunting support at home, or a mom trying to fill both parent roles (no offense meant to our lady hunters here). I am more talking about a mother who takes a hunter ed class with her son, so he will at least have someone to hunt with, even though she has no real passion for hunting. I truly enjoy watching them light up when they see a deer, or even more when they get one. I have taken enough game over the years that any more might make me feel greedy. I hope you stick around and share some of those pics. Just remember that the first time you see a racker with the camera, the fire will start burning again.
  8. oh and by the way the age comments are not uncommon. Most ticketed are in the 30's to 60's range. As I have stated on here the younger hunters are the safer and are more likely to follow the laws.
  9. there is a lot of discretion depending on circumstances. Keep in mind you can get ticketed for fishing without a license if you do not have it on you, but have one. Come to court with the license showing it was purchased before the infraction is different than not having one at all. There are ranges in fines depending on many factors such as previous convictions etc. They will say like 25 minimum 250 maximum. Knowing the judge helps too.
  10. If you drag or carry the deer manually, it does not need to have the tag on it. But if you haul it with a 4 wheeler or any other motorized vehicle,it needs to be tagged. That is a source of transportation.
  11. hey my name makes that list every once in a while.
  12. I was never shot at in the southern tier, nor did it sound like a war zone. I hunted in dutchess county with a school friend who moved and still resides there. This was 20 years ago. He has a farm, which is private land. The sad part was he had to paint the word cow on the side of his cows as every year one or two got shot in his pastures on his private land. I guess respect in hunting has gone out the window. The me me generation is taking over for sure. We would sit the back side of his farm and count the guys marching in on public land and setting up where if a deer dared walk through, someone was going to get shot. I will stay here and hunt, not because I think city people can not hunt and do well at it, but because the risk factor is way too high. Look at the posts on here about hunting in the southern tier and tell me it sounds appealing to someone not from there.
  13. Pretty much the reason I stopped going south to hunt.
  14. umm did you miss the lol? I was busting on ya. Geesh relax. No need to puff your chest out any more ok. But most important watch out for those coyotes.
  15. hunter insanity. Tell the trooper yes you heard it
  16. I weigh also. I use 70 grains by weight which equals 100 by volume. Works well
  17. In my impact, I shoot regular winchester 209's no ignition problems. When I shot my sidekick, I used winchester 777 primers, and i went off every time also. But the sidekick replacement plug was designed for bh 209. It has an o-ring at the base of the primer pocket that seals the breech plug causing no blow back. How much blow back is everyone seeing? In my impact the primers come out as clean as they went in. But around the firing pin is always dirty. With the sidekick with the o-ring, no blow back at all
  18. About pulling the breech plug first, When I put mine away, I do so without the plug in it. This stops any oil etc from getting in the plug before I load it. Kind of a safety thing for me. Crack it open and no plug means no load. It takes 30 seconds to install the plug. If the plug is in, I look through it. If I can see light, I know there is no load The marked ramrod is still by far the best practice.
  19. lol That is funny. Good thing you did not have a corn tag.
  20. not necessarily. i have seen the same results with a front leg injury
  21. it would depend on load bullet etc. in the old days, companies shot double loads to test the barrel. I have seen it done by mistake with no ill effects except the shoulder
  22. well humans are the same. The left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and vice versa.
  23. When the sidekicks first came out, I purchased one for my ex father in law. 24 inch barrel. I had purchased him a cva staghorn before this, but due to him being a lefty, it was tough for him to operate. The sidekick was ideal. Anyway long story short, I gave it to him for his birthday in March that year. We shot it once in April and and he passed away suddenly that May. Two years ago my ex mother in law gave the gun back to me. I killed a deer with it last year. Well my brother in law (their son) has been an off and on hunter for a few years. He has gotten back into it more this year. It had been weighing on my mind a lot about that sidekick. Yesterday we took some guns to the range. I showed him how the modifications worked including the oring etc. We shot it and he cleaned it. When we got back home, I handed the gun and accessories as well as the stuff he needed to shoot it. I had told him the story of how it was acquired etc. He was shocked I gave it to him, but to me it sure seemed like the right thing to do. I hope we can get it bloodied again in 2 weeks when late ml season happens here. After season, I will send the 25-06 frame in and have a barrel fitted to it. No way I can not have a H&R muzzleloader barrel lol.
