Looks like there may just be statewide Antler Restricts.

I don't think seeking my advice can be compared to a biologist or a semi thought out online study, but I appreciate the thought....I don't doubt anything you're saying. I just was a little surprised when I heard from these guys....my first thought was "I hope these aren't the type of hunters who are going to be the majority voice", followed by the thought of telling them to do some research on their own...what happened is I just told them what they should be for and against........I'm sure I'm not alone in being a little frustrated for not getting to participate in the survey, but it is what it is. -

apparently you missed the point.........those two casual hunters asked me for my input on certain topics, so they were influenced by an outside source and answered in a way they may not have had they taken time to research on their own.......but I'm sure that's an isolated incident. I'm aware that they more than likely take into account that many surveys won't get returned and that some "cheating" may go on. -
can't comment on the Hornady, but I have experience with the Remington managed recoil in both .308 & 30-06............without question it will do the job on a Whitetail.
-
my .308 has considerable less recoil than my 30-06..........but that will vary from rifle to rifle.

much like the aggravation of having to hunt under the current mandatory AR's that were imposed in some areas........... -
I would look and see what area allows baiting earlier...not sure there is any difference in the regs, but that is a pretty important aspect of hunting over bait. It's pretty important that you go somewhere that they start baiting as early as possible and maintain them. There will be places that don't start as early as they should.

I was just curious if anyone on here got one, I know two guys, neither serious deer hunters, so they asked me to help fill them out, obviously you can see the problem with that.........shows how flawed the system is when they only select a few out of all the hunters in NY. -

did anybody get a survey to fill out yet? -

I just say a prayer before I cook the meat and "The Man Upstairs" makes it come out perfect......you only get good tasting venison if he wants it to happen. -

haha, that's probably the most annoying statement that guys make after shooting something that they feel guilty about shooting or are embarrassed to have shot.......the last thing that ever enters my mind before I shoot a deer that I want to kill is what it may taste like. I'm pretty sure that any deer I take, that dies and is recovered quickly and is properly cared for is going to taste just fine regardless of age. -
If they stopped all Buck hunting.

well, look at it this way...nobody is telling the "selective hunters" what to shoot, by law or otherwise......on the other hand, the "non selective hunters" are being told what they can shoot.....so it's only natural that one group may be more annoyed than another.right?....or maybe DEC will enact an "my wife just had a baby so I don't have enough time to trophy hunt so I need to lower my standards for this year, but normally I would never shoot a buck of this size clause" to the AR laws.......... -
"always real butter, when we use butter"..........no kidding?

well, I'm sure you'll tell me I'm wrong, but if the majority of bucks are killed opening weekend, and you now remove the ability for people to kill the yearlings during that period, how could it not have some type of impact on yearling bucks surviving another year?.......and in the scheme of things, AR's mean nothing to me nor do I care, but don't want you to "burst my bubble" again...so don't get into it...again. -
when it comes to wood, it's just like striped clothing, horizontal stripes give a shorter fatter appearance and vertical stripes give a taller thinner appearance...........I'd vote for vertical any day of the week...and a white ceiling.
-
another thought if you're going to entirely gut the room, install 1/2" plywood behind the sheetrock....guys with extensive mounts go this route so they can hang mounts anywhere without looking for studs or installing anchors, so far this hasn't been a problem for me........
-
not really, I've glued it on in the past and it was pretty simple....only problem is if you go that route and get tired of it you can't take it off without ruining the sheetrock.....and the color I like is beige/light tan, not bash...and like I mentioned, too much of something is a bit much, that's why I don't like the wood ceiling walls and floor....makes it feel too closed in....and lighting is very important as far as I'm concerned, too much wood doesn't reflect it very well from what I've seen.
-
love the wood, but always felt that the wood ceiling gave it a claustrophobic feeling.....
-
that's a question you should ask the future wife, might as well get used to her making the final decisions....I always like the natural pin wainscoting with a bash paint on the top half..........where you looking for houses?
-
how's it work on pancakes and waffles?....all joking aside, I do use olive oil in most of my cooking these days.
-
neither, been using Smart Balance for daily use............but still use good old butter when a recipe calls for it.

all they would have to do is implement mandatory Statewide AR's for the first two days of Regular gun season to make a big enough impact on the Buck age structure. -

absolutely, I'm sure there are areas of the State that 6pt bucks are the norm for a 1.5 year old deer. -
read the book, if you want to doubt the guy who was there that's up to you........but I'm sure you were in a similar situation at some point.
-
you should read the book, and watch some interviews with Marcus Lutrell that are on youtube......pretty eye opening and heartbreaking if you hear some of the things he says.....Michael Murphy graduated a few years ahead of my daughter from the same school....my son did something as a tribute to him without our knowledge until they sent a letter home about it...probably the proudest day of my life so far.
-
yeah, he seemed pretty happy.....I would have been surprised if he didn't offer a deal, probably going out for some real birds in the next day or so...let you know how it goes, and thanks for the input.
