all parts are original and have matching #'s, the stamp on the receiver appears to be a wings on what I can best describe as being on a globe with CE stamped right below, on the barrel right after the receiver is stamped "fxo aw" if that helps and it still has the rear elevation sights on it.....I also have an Oberrndorf which was rebarreled for 30-06...by me, which I now know was a big mistake.

Looks like there may just be statewide Antler Restricts.

they should go back to when you bought your regular season tag that was good for archery and regular season...it was either sex during archery and if you were successful you could buy another tag for the regular season that was buck only as it is now and turned back into an either sex tag during late bow / muzzleloader season, and doe tags were pretty much on an area based need....... -
thanks, think I'm going to work on resurrecting it and start shooting it again....btw all the #'s match and everything looks clean as far as rust and corrosion go.

look at what NYC is doing, they are buying up private land at an alarming rate and opening it to the public....there's a lot of unhappy people because of this, the Real Estate people are pissed because now that land is forever off the market and many of the local residents are pissed because this previously unhunted land, that may or may not have been their private sanctuary's now has others hunting it....so as much as big money may be securing big parcels of land, public entities are doing the same. -
I know there must be many issues that could cause what I'm talking about.....but for you guys with the knowledge, is it unreasonable to suggest a gun with the original barrel could have issues with the headspacing that could possibly create the problems I mentioned? if so, I'd rather find a good gunsmith and have it checked out to avoid any potentially damaging or dangerous situations.

Guided hunts in BRITISH COLUMBIA

so you're asking interested non residents if they would like more opportunity to hunt BC? what do you think? -
was just a little out of round where the opening of the neck is......and what appeared to be the brass / metallic dust, I'm not a reloader or gun fanatic so maybe my findings and the info that I got was not of any real concern? but, for you guys who are, is this a real possibility of something that could happen?
-
I'm very far away from you, L.I......I only brought this up because I saw a chance to get an answer as to what I was told was possible or not, and this is what I was told could be the issue, who knows if the guy even knew what he was talking about.....If I remember correctly I was just using Remington factory ammo..no primer issues, only a real fine brass looking dust around the the back of the chamber where the brass sits when fully seated and the neck of the case would look out of shape....I'm 100% sure this is the original military barrel that was never messed with, haven't shot it in many years, but saw the chance for some possible answers so figured I'd ask.
-
yes, I just made it up for conversation sake...thanks for your useless input.
-
it's been awhile, but I believe it was a gunshop I brought it to when I noticed fine brass "dust" building up around the inside of the chamber and the brass looking a little out of shape after shooting.....never really looked any further into it after that as it wasn't one of my primary hunting rifles...they offered to have it sent out to have the headspace checked.

that and bring the herds back up in the areas that are hurting.......once they get the herds in check they can worry about tweaking them. -
ok, I'm totally clueless about headspace and reloading to adjust for headspace issues....but, I have an older sportarized 98 Mauser that still has the original 8mm Barrel on it that I stopped using because I was told it may have headspace issues, this was based on the condition of the brass after it was shot...........anyone???

if the host comes across as a professional and the show is very well done, chances are it's Jim Shockey. I just corrected my statement....Jim Shockey has a very good show.

that's a lot of violations....and just think how many people get away with illegal activity.

you're first thought is spot on.........they want an easy fix and it can't be done by changing the regulations every few years when what they just implemented isn't working fast enough. Think back 10-15 years ago, were people pissed off with the deer hunting? I don't remember anyone fighting about the things they are now....it seems that some hunter's want everything now, big bucks, multiple bucks, numerous doe tags, longer or shorter seasons, a tag for every weapon...something has got to give at some point. -

The area we hunt upstate went to AR's three years ago (4W & 4R), I was beyond ticked at the time........3 years later and no improvement in the quality of the bucks we see, just at this point I don't care.....never was a trophy hunter, but was always thrilled to take any legal buck. I didn't even have the desire to fill my doe tags Upstate because the deer just aren't there, so I couldn't see killing one just to fill the tags......luckily (depending how you look at it) I live on L.I. and was able to fill 3 tags, just not the same to me as getting away and hunting Upstate. -

I was thinking along those same lines, how hard could it really be to set up an online survey / questionnaire that requires you to log in using the same info used for online license sales and harvest reporting? -

so since there are geniuses working on this, I shouldn't bother to send emails or make phone calls with my opinion on any of these matters because that would be considered being selfish and whiny? I've always been told not to complain if you did nothing to promote or fight an issue, guess I'll leave it to the professional's from this point on. -

killing two bucks a year is no more of a problem than someone killing a little spike or 4pt....... -

I agree 100% about giving ALL hunters the opportunity to participate in the survey, sending out only 7000 questionnaires to randomly selected hunters, in no way guarantees they'd be getting a fair mixture of ideas..............I know everyone is welcome to attend the open meetings, but we all know that's not possible. I wrote several emails regarding my opposition to AR's prior to us getting them, but I never got any type of response in return, so who knows how much weight an outside response from a single person even has. -
is that really how it works?

maybe the regular season tag should be for an antlerless deer and the DMP lottery should be for the coveted buck tag? now that would be interesting. -

I can count points, but how the heck is anyone supposed to be able to accurately judge inches? obviously it's done, but gotta be tricky. -
I'm pretty sure what you said is exactly what happened....

ok, I did read that just because you don't see a lot of smoke doesn't mean that it's not smoking......maybe I should have listened.
