  1. taking care of the landowner should have been a top priority.....at least it would have been with me.
  2. I know one person who had a barrel shortened...........total disaster.
  3. maybe the other two hunters took it for what it was and were smart enough to keep their mouths shut.........
  4. The kid put it in print that he knew the deer was one from the farm and rather than notify them he decided to hunt it...................how funny would it be if what he knowingly admitted to set him up for some type of lawsuit from the deer owner?
  5. putting all legalities of ownership and whatnot aside........based on the article, this kill is nothing to be overly proud of and not much of an accomplishment in my book........the kid KNEW it was an escaped deer from a farm.
  6. the kid knew it was escaped.....I'm pretty sure that's very clear in the story.
  7. I wonder if it came with an ear tag.......
  8. my point is, the kid knew the deer was a pen raised animal that escaped its enclosure and in all reality belonged to someone else.......his choice is to kill it and put it out it as some type of accomplishment.....is it really much different then your dog getting out of your yard and someone taking it?
  9. but yet you kept the Tripe going..........interesting.
  10. "Rather than notify Stillwater that their deer had escaped, he went ahead with the hunt." The above quote taken from the story speaks volumes about the "hunter"...................
  11. but the article said he knew about it, so figured I'd just stick to that instead of adding "what if's" to my comment.
  12. he knowingly shot a pen raised animal that is someone else's property and he thinks it's an accomplishment?......not in my book..........would I kill it if it was fair game and not considered the taking of property owned by someone else? yup, but as they say "it is what it is".
  13. I bought it once to try (already prepared).............couldn't do it.
  14. I heard of people who had already sold natural gas rights on their property to the gas companies in anticipation of BIG $$$$$...does anyone know of someone who did this, and what happens now?
  15. send CVA an email explaining you just bought the gun new with a broken sight..........I bet they send you a new one free of charge, I've done this with a few other scope & gun companies for various reasons and they have always taken care of what I needed.
  16. they just extended the Archery season until the end of January. The shotgun season was always in January, weekdays only.....they just expanded on that as well. Bonus DMP's are available throughout the zone in an unlimited supply the last time I checked.
  17. 105"...............2.5 years old.
  18. yes, private sale transfers have changed since the Safe Act...they are only allowed to charge $10.00 on face to face private transfers/sales and they must retain the record of those sales. I would guess they're might be more willing to do internet sales and transfers because that price is not dictated by NYS............there are a few shops that add certain "fees" to each face to face transaction to make it worthwhile, if you find one I would keep it quiet.
  19. I've been checked by DEC while duck hunting.................they usually use a magnet to check. I think if you have numerous older boxes this should work. I'm not sure how the newer non-toxic shot reacts to a magnet.
  20. I think in NY State sales are difficult because most shops refuse to do the paperwork and background for sales between private parties......not sure if the shops have relaxed that attitude as of late, but when the Safe Act first passed most were sticking to that, not worth the $10.00 to be record keepers for the State.
  21. I may have missed it if it was brought up, but do you still own the rights to that picture to market it as you want, or does it now belong to the Federal Gov't?
