  1. no worries he did more than most may have done....I butcher my own and have had some that probably wouldn't pass the sniff test....especially if you guys donate the meat, he doesn't need any problems and is probably a little more cautious.
  2. going up early tomorrow morning to beat the storm that is supposed to hit our area......first time actually going up for Thanksgiving itself. Looking forward to hunting in the snow.
  3. I'm not going to second guess anyone, and really don't want to use this thread to bring it up, but here it goes.........unless you start to butcher the animal and smell what the meat is like when you do so, it's hard to make the decision that it's bad based on just smelling the body cavity...and that very well may have been what happened, but just thought I'd throw it out there....with that being said, I give your Dad a lot of credit for breaking his ass finding it and bringing it home....this in no way was directed at him, just a general observation.
  4. this behavior should change everyone's opinion on them and help bridge the "gap".........
  5. so you weren't looking for the right answer, just the answer that you wanted to hear......you could have said that in your first post.
  6. so laws only set the fees for certain activities and don't say you can't do them?.................that's a pretty interesting interpretation.
  7. I have no doubt that's it's possible...... I also don't believe that if one was truly killed here that DEC would cover it up and say it never happened and that it wasn't a Wolf of Wolf/Coyote Hybrid, those biologists get all kinds of excited when something new shows up in the area they study. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they don't launch an all out investigation just one sighting, and I would also think that any Taxidermist that knows what they are doing would report any animal to DEC that they think is something that is not what it is brought in as......they have to answer for the animals in their possession if not legally tagged or possessed.
  8. I like the illuminated "Seasons Greetings" sign hanging over Main St.........
  9. yeah, and what would be the benefit to cover up an animal that suddenly shows up in a new area, whether it be just passing through or establishing a new population?
  10. what's your guess on the weight of the one in the original post?
  11. pretty sure that's what was said in post #34
  12. I assume he's sitting that far behind it because it still appears to be alive..............any photos of it after he killed it? if it is alive, like it looks to me, it's probably bristling up it's fur, giving it a larger appearance.
  13. I would definitely ship overnight or 2nd day......I recently shipped standard to Colorado (used both UPS & USPS) and the average was 7 days, with the package sitting around on Sundays due to no shipping. http://compass.ups.com/tips-for-shipping-with-dry-ice-or-gel-packs/
  14. I don't know the penalty for something like that, you're best bet would be to call DEC and ask..........or just pick up a set of compact climbing sticks, they go up just as quick and with less effort than screw in steps, why risk a fine and whatever else may come along with getting caught?
  15. yeah, I was going to ship last year within NY and it was pretty expensive to get it there overnight....but it also depends on how much you're shipping.
  16. so if doing something that is against the regulations comes with an affordable fine, you're willing to do it?......priceless.
  17. yup, just like all the other's who actually hunt for their deer.....now go back to sucking your deer semen into a straw....and don't forget to spit when you're done.
  18. most self claimed professionals who run a business wouldn't even engage in this type of behavior, they would just back off and leave it alone because it's bad for business and makes them look like a douchebag.....right FSW?
  19. that's all well and good, but do you have a gray and yellow mullet?....that's what separates the men from the boys.
