  1. And like I said earlier, it doesn't take a genius to realize that AR's are probably a good idea.....there's probably a much better argument for them than against them, so I wouldn't even bother trying......and my opinion for not being overjoyed with them, is certainly not based on any scientific data.

  2. Holy crap nyantler, the more I read your response, the more off the wall it sounds.....the "I think" was not offering the answer to his question, but as to what his question was....slow down and read the post's......and you were the one who threw the non-typical point question in....

  3. ok, I KNOW the question was what constitutes a legal point...and I think that's all that DOC was asking................hey DOC want to jump in and restate what you were asking, was it just about legal points or antler restrictions?

  4. If you look back on this thread, although at this point who has the energy, I did say that I am willing to accept them and move on, because believe it or not, where I hunt, getting a buck every 3-4 years is about normal, so it won't be that much of a difference...as to the old restrictions , it has been in place as long as I remember, and has never been an issue.........but, passing on that 4pt or any other smallish buck that I get a chance at every few years will be something new.

  5. I think the question was what makes a legal point and I think I answered the original question....maybe try sticking to answering the question and not putting your own twist on the topic.

  6. nice attempt at an insult......I'm pretty content the way thing's are, but to be honest, I've never shot one spike in 30 years of hunting...4pts basket 6's and 8's, along with a couple really nice one's....alway's been happy with all my hunting experiences.........I don't measure the success of my hunt's on antler size, it's more than that to me.

  7. that wasn't me, I don't hunt for big racks, if you thought I said that, you're response makes sense....but, I didn't say that I practice AR's.........I did say I respect those who do, but just not what I hunt for.

  8. If it's measured anything like Pope & Young, Boone & Crocket , you draw a line that goes along the main beam under the point and measure from that line up..........yeah, kinda tough in a hunting situation that means legal or illegal point. Anything where the burr comes into play would only be in areas that allow spikes to still be taken.

  9. Bucks taken in the antler restriction area must have at least one antler with 3 or more points that are at least one inch long...........from dec's website, but measured from what point?

  10. PETERBFLY, what's a part time gun hunter? is it possible to be any type of full time hunter unless you do it for a living?.....and bucks that could have been so much better for who? a dead buck is a dead buck, "oh, man I wish he was better so I could kill him"..........sounds kind silly, don't it?

  11. maybe those of us who hunt in area's that have AR's imposed upon us, should pay a discounted price for our license's..............I mean, after all, our tag's have restriction's on them, while those who hunt in area's without AR's have none.

  12. is it just me, or did anyone else notice that the guy's against AR's just come out and admit they don't care about antler size and the guy's for them try to dig up "data" to try and support their argument instead of just saying that they're just interested in big bucks?
