  1. man after reading some of those posts I can't help but say, " lighten up a little" geez... don't discredit the animal, but enjoy yourself , especially in a camp type atmosphere where a little friendly competition and especially a little s$%t talkin makes it fun for the whole group, and makes you look forward to next year at camp to see all your pals... I agree some go a little far with it, but don't dum it down to the point of hunt to survive and take all the fun and enjoyment out of it...
  2. the only one i ever watch anymore is midwest whitetail... they do a great job in my opinion of being super classy woodsman without all the bravado like most of the crap out there these days... oh and of course Micheal Wadell , he's a trip to watch lol...
  3. seems to me that the bottom line is your story had better check out... such as, " I was a 45 minute walk back in, took me 20 minutes to dress em as it was getting dark, and I'm a big guy but draggin a deer out that far took me for everything I had so it took me quite a while with a few breaks every now n then... " that would put you back at the truck at around 7/7:30/ 8:00 if its a pig of a deer... I truly don't think they would have a problem with that... now if you wander back to your truck with your gun or bow and its 9 / 10 oclock at night with a deer, somethings a little fishy...
  4. ooopppsss thanks, wouldn't a noticed that...

  6. well thats good to know, i also posed this scenario to the officer at bow class and she gave me a willy nilly response like, well its all gonna depend when we interview you back at your vehicle... what the hell is that... i told her im not gonna walk an hour back to the truck, an hour back to the deer, and then a hour or two drag back out,, im in good shape but dammm... Im gonna do my best to get the shot on my gopro and if they try to pull some bs saying i shot it after hours i'll say , just review the footage with time and date stamped on it! and they also kept responding , call the dec when a situation like that arrises and let them know whats going on, do you know how many phone calls they would be handling at any given hour, impossible...
  7. ok ok, i read in the manual "the bible", and missed the Q & A sectoion which does state that you can track a wounded animal at night with a light but you may not posses a bow, gun, etc... I am bagging this manual and packing it with me so I can take it out and show the officer in black and white.... frustrating , cause during bow class we had an officer come in and do a lil speech and then fielded some question... this being my question... and she said NO... her argument was , well there is a fine line between hunting, pursuing, and harassing game, and what are you gonna do if you do come on that animal and its not expired, can't shoot it at night... well that's easy mark the spot of last sighting, back out and try again tomorrow... they kept telling me to call the deer trackers which Im sure all of you know is a free service for tracking with dogs... thanks for you input guys! I'm sure by the time I graduate grad school and its time for me to leave I will have just about figured most of it out, lol...
  8. paula, believe me i did read it cover to cover, I missed that question section, ever looked it cause it was next to some advertising ... so officers have no idea what there talking about as well
  9. how about that afternoon hunt when the magic hour hits and you have 10min left of legal shooting time and that buck of your dreams steps out and offers you a chip shot, but oh no, did i hit him, was it too far back, i didn't see him go down in sight, or maybe you smoked him but still wanna give him a half hour to be sure and you heard him go down 60 yds away.... well now dark is ever near as you get down and find your arrow... good blood, now its dark, AND IM NOT ALLOWED TO GO GET MY DAM DEER?!? i've heard numerous responses on this one including mixed reviews from a bow instructor and an officer.... provided that you have taken your gear and your bow or gun an locked it all in the truck, are you legally allowed to track a deer at night within reason, with your basic pen light( no mag lights or q beams ) ? just can't see how they can justify wasting deer like that especially if i live an hour and a half away, and can't just walk out the back door n go find em in the morning or risk yotes or another hunter finding em... what's your experience with this?
  10. hmmmm, just finished bow class last week as we don't have that in FL, and the instructor that has been teaching it for thirty some years bla bla bla said they were illegal.. goes to show ya even experience doesn't mean ya know everything... thanks, that's a huge help... i'll probly take it of and stuff it in my pack before I hike out just incase I run into the man...
  11. looks like a fox without a doubt, don't know why there is so much confusion on this topic... the hair is too fine to be a coyote is what i say...
  12. haha... ya lets just say i've done my homework.... got a ticket the first few days I was up here in Tonawanda WMA at the shooting range for parking on the grass.. $125 later I said no more! certainly been a challenge too, like how your not allowed to have the light on your sight to help illuminate your pins at low light, where is that anywhere on the DEC website OR the hunters handbook... they just expect you to live and learn!?! everything and I mean everything seems to be lose termed and have to much room for interpretation for the officer to express whatever mood he/she is in that day!
  13. it is, they still sell em up here any how... along with deer feed, mineral rock etc.. allll illegal... I just moved up here from Florida for gradschool and we don't have any head restrictions down there... thus why i have a pack of unused three's...
  14. here is another video that is pretty amazing using deer ribs, shoulders, and balistic gell... let the facts make up your mind... without Hank Parker, lol.... keep in mind im not trying to push this product on anyone, i figured as a fellow hunter I would share in my confidence with these heads and maybe you are looking for a better alternative, would be glad to here any success stories good or bad if you did switch and try em... thanks for listenin.... and PLEASE PLEASE fast forward through the first 5 minutes of Hank's BS and get to the experiment...
  15. i agree, he should stick to fishing where using bait is an acceptable method... very geared toward sponsors... all that aside, the shwacker is the real deal, I posted the video for the scientific unbiased analysis of various heads... have used these heads for several years now, and havn't had a deer run more than 60 yds, but i don't take iffy shots!
  16. i agree, don't like his show, damm cammere deer... that's not hunting! very geared toward sponsors... but all that aside the shwacker is the real deal!
  17. suit yourself man.... plywood just goes to show ya how well they would work on a severely quartering deer... if it can shoot through plywood at a 64 degree angle, than a deer stands NO chance... I like that, but what I like most was the ability to crush through a shoulder bone and remain sharp and intact unlike the rage's with bent, chipped, and missing blades , even after hitting only ribs as well which on a perfect shot your guaranteed to hit rib... use what works for you, but these have performed flawlessly for me so im gonna keep on keepin on... good luck this season... Joe
  18. i agree, you really don't need the angle compensator just because your hunting from a tree stand, do the math, range from stand height is only a yard more than ground yardage which isn't going to make a difference in pin selection or where you hold... like RevEv said ya only need it if your taking uphill or downhill STEEP shots in mountainous country... I have used a simple wildview rangefinder for years and never had a problem and there only a hundred bucks... although the nikon's are very nice... good luck in your search..
  19. well it certainly is an improvement and will help with penetration issues, but i still don't like that the blades have to slide to open... to much can go wrong there...
  20. love those brow's!! got great mass too... good luck, should call him high tower, man he's tall... good luck
  21. they somewhat do, the main difference is the rage's get pushed open from the tip and have to slide down and back towards the shaft to open... the shwackers, each blade is independent in itself and gets dragged or pulled open outward by the little cutting wing facing outward on each blade as its closed and pivot at the base as they open instead of sliding... I just don't like that the rage has to slide to open and has the potential to bind during that motion... but hey to each his own, if ya like em stick with em, happy hunting...
  22. I bought a pack of the rage three blade that are still brand new out of the package, never used em... the issue i have with the rage is the blades are flimsy and its a 50/50 as to whether all blades will deploy or not... i love the shwackers because you get about a half inch to an inch of penetration before the blades are dragged open keeping its true path with no deflection, and its ability to punch through a shoulder god forbid your shot is forward... the blades are sturdy, sharp, and its as simple as a mechanical gets insuring 100 percent deployment of the blades every time! and they truly fly as good as your field tips...
  23. I happened to come across this video on youtube while watching deer huntin videos, and the results of these tests are pretty substantial... I have been on many forums over the years and one of the topics that always seems to show up is "what broadhead do you use?" ... I have actually been using these heads for a couple a years now, I have NO complaints what so ever... have recovered deer closer to my tree than in past seasons...I know the craze out there these days are Rage heads, but I gotta say I think the extensive marketing is the culprit... Will shoot the swhackers as long as they keep sellin em... I'm sold! how bout you?
