n how do you mix it up or dilute it i should say? how many ounces permytherin to water? and where do you get straight permytherin up there?
-
they like warm spots filled with a rich blood supply haha... i've heard of people have a but crack full of em... DON"T want that to be me...
-
ya im sure this mild winter has ALOT to do with it... i've got the sawyers permetherin spray, seen em die crawlin up my leg.... good stuff
-
what part a the state you in ? i'll be in western NY, erie, genesee
-
ya i found three on me at seperate times this past year, only one latched on... but i guess i got it in time or it didn't transmit anything cause i didn't get the bullseye rash so i was lucky,,, lady i work with that just moved back from jersey said she got bit up there and had the rash n everything, got some antibiotics and was fine, guess your ok if you catch it in time, so ALWAYS check yourself !!!! especially in your hair, they love it there... luckily i always have a shaved head so checkin with my fingers is super easy...
-
ya your correct, i was wondering about that region cause it's mostly frozen most of the year, but i know those little buggers will hang out until that spring thaw and then get busy in a hury...
-
ya thats good stuff, i got the yellow bottle that sprays on and you just let it dry, but you can def smell it when you spray it, so as far as scent control im not thrilled about it, but then again, who's thrilled about getting a tick... had one on my neck in archery that i had no idea it was there until i was outa the woods cleanin my face paint off in the mirror of the truck at the gas station down the road .... SOB's
-
how have the ticks been this year! just tryin to get a feel on what to expect when i get up there... down in the swamps of south FL, usually only get one or two on me in the summer, as our bow season opens in august and september depending on what part a the state your in... is this something ya;ll regularly deel with during summer scouting and the beginning of bow until you get that first cold snap?... i have even used sawyers permetherin, but i don't like to cause there has to be a little bit of oder even though its dried on your clothes... works well though... even for skeeters... simply put... HOW BAD ARE THEY??? especially you turkey hunters?
-
well now that i've been turned on to the interactive google map at least i can see some boudries and track a route to get there.... that is what i was having trouble with before is how to get there cause the descriptions don't really help by county, but i'll be aight... just hope i can claim residency so i can hunt this year n not have to pay 2 ta 3 hundred dollars for tags...
-
alright well i found 3 or 4 different parcels of land to hunt, just wish they all weren't an hour away... specially if its mid to late season n have a bunch a snow on the roads to drive through... oh well, that's the price ya pay for living near buffalo, gotta work on gettin some private land.... anyone have any helpful thoughts, hints, or tips on that?
-
that looks like it could be a huge help... was thinking there has to be a state map with all that on there... and there it is, thnx bud
-
well that helps a little, man, not very many opportunities to hunt in erie... lookin at min an hour drive to go to wyoming or gensseee... how's the luck on private land permission?... i read somewhere on here that some land owners have "ask permission" stickers or signs ,,, are they a rare sight or here n there?
-
be up there in july, but down here in florida, all public land has a map, regulations for each including dates, game legal to hunt, boundries, and even a state map with all the WMA's listed to get an idea of where they are so i can find them on google earth... i guess im just gonna AGAIN have to call the DEC and waist a bunch of there time and ask a bunch a questions that could have easily been answered online... anyone else feel this way about the system up there??? looking forward to hunting NY but dam they sure are makin it a hassle on a guy!!!! oh well gonna make that first harvest that much sweeter, never been afraid of a little hard work....
-
great, but of the 10 or 15 listed only two have descriptions, and they do NOT include hunting as a recreation....?!? and the rest do not have a description for the area, am i just gonna have to drive out there n read the posted sign at the entrance or parking area to see if i'm allowed to hunt it or call the DEC? really frustrating this crap isn't more structured...
-
Anybody know any better way of finding or locating public land other than the DEC website?

crazy that the other one survived and the coyotes only ate the dead one...

any of the snake boots that say "waterproof" only means from the dew in the air, or walking through wet grass , never submerged,,, and waterproof only means until the spray treatment they put on it wears off... the only boots that are waterproof are the ones equipped with the gortex lining ... rocky makes some solid gortex snake boots... turkey hunting and well any hunting here in south FL boasts a good pair of snake boots as essential... !!

it is quite possible to over stress anything in the body... especially a joint... little tears here, little tears there, a rubbing of bone here, a rubbing of bone there, loss of cartilage(not always do to impact, can be degenerative er-go your genetics) and then add on top a that shooting a highly demanding draw weight 3,4 , 5 times a week for however long your sessions are, and if your competitive like you say you were, that's a good recipe for a possible injury... interesting to me because I'm attending D"YOUVILLE College grad program in physical therapy coming this august.... may be something for me to keep in mind when it comes time for me to right my dissertation or do research for credit.... but personally , im 28 yrs old, 6'3" , 220, and there is no question that i can draw 70-80 lbs, but i prefer 65... i can get more comfortable in my set point, and find that im more accurate than even at 70 lbs, especially when you get that stubborn buck that stops face on at full draw for two minutes starring at you while your shaking before they turn lol... hate when they do that ...
-
really? than why would they go n say something like living here 30 days prior to application... i see what your saying though maybe on the DMV's end to change my license.... i always thought you had 30 days no matter where you live to change your address on your license once you move ... hmmm another good question to ask... and i see your in upstate, too bad or i'd ask ya about you being my instructor haha... thnx again...

i'll have to remember that for next year being this is my first season up there...

not necessarily true... though you had problems at 80 and not 60, that does not mean that has had a direct effect on the health of your shoulder... Many underlying issues can arise under certain conditions and can exacerbate or irritate those underlying weaknesses such as rotator cup issues, or A/C joint arthritis or micro tears that may be present in the first place causing you to perceive the draw weight as the direct culprit .... as a fellow bow hunter we are all susceptible to issues concerning the shoulder joint that is why it is important consider prevention or maintenance of your shoulder health... just like golfers protect themselves from injury in the gym by strengthening those vulnerable areas of concern in order to avoid injury while playing, its the same thing if you shoot a lot... the more you strengthen your rotator cuff the less other things have to compensate for it... internal and external rotation is as simple as using a band keeping your elbow at your side and pull in towards the body with the band to your side and your hand out in front of you as a starting and ending position.. then for external from the body out... but at any rate, it is not absolutely NECESSARY to shoot the highest poundage you can pull, draw weights of even 50-55 pounds on todays bows are plenty fast enough to kill a deer... shoot what your comfortable with and what you can stay asymptomatic...
