  1. Yeah, they said it was 30 pounds. My cat weighs more than that...
  2. I used some old pillow cases...Cut em up so they were smaller. Filled with sand, and then put them in small burlap bags that some coffee comes in..
  3. I use these from Cabelas... They are great for hunting, as they are low profile. You can adjust the volume so that you can hear at a normal level, or have super hearing. At the range I put in a loose fitting ear plugs for added protection, and turn the volume up...They work great. And I have used them duck hunting, so of course they got wet, but still work. (three seasons now) http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat602007-cat20801&id=0044358228573a&navCount=1&podId=0044358&parentId=cat20801&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=XA&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true
  4. Nice Ford. Thats exactly what Im thinking of if I get another slug gun. What kind of groups and distances are you getting out of it? WNYBuck, Here are some 100 yard groups I had from last year. I hope to do some more shooting soon..It gets expensive with these slugs..
  5. WNY, Yeah I have one as well. Great gun. Mine is a 20g. It likes the remington Accu-Tips.
  6. Ok, from your other posts in this thread, I believe you mean private property.. Many factors come in to play here, so the answer is not so simple.. Lets say for instance, you walk into your favorite dress shop. The sign on the door says no firearms. Entering the shop would not be "illegal," in and of itself. If they knew you were carring, and asked you to leave, and you did not, that could be a trespass charge. It is simply the rule of the business, not a law. Now, how would they know that you were carring? If you unintentionally exposed your weapon, you could in fact be charged with menacing. Federal, State, and local government facilities are an entirely different thing..Dont do that, as I am sure you know.
  7. One thing to remember about shot gun slugs is the effect of wind on the projectile, much more than with a rifle. Depending on the slug, a breeze can move a slug quite a bit off course at 200 yards... And from my observations at the range, at 100 yards, I see very few "great" groups with even rifled slug guns. People claim to get 1-2 inch groups all the time. Just never really see it at the range.
  8. No..Not 200 in upgrades...200 total. Like you I bought the MU plug, and the Hubbards rod.
  9. Maybe right near RTF ^...We will see.
  10. I am kind of between areas..I am in the process of buying a place in New Lisbon, wich is 4F.

    YAHOO

Good luck with the new job. Times are tough, to say the least..
  12. Ah, I wish the H&R Sidecick was still in production for ya. 3 years ago I got one for 150...But it needed Some upgrades...Total was about 200. And then the Remington Genesis was a good buy for my 2 buddies..Now that is out of production I believe... I think your best bet is a CVA, although I have no expierence with them. They have had problems in the past, but I hear they make a quality product now. Do yourself one favor though..If you have no problem spending money for good powder, go with Black Horn 209. It is expensive, but it will make your shooting much easier. There is really no swabbing involved, and it is accurate. If you are going to shoot a lot, then you might want to go with something cheaper.
  13. Some of you get phenomenal shots out of your smooth bores. I never got any kind of groups shooting smoothbores at 100 yards. 50 yards, no problem, but they have always opened way up at 100. In fact, I have never seen anyone shooting a smooth bore get any where near 2 or 3 inch groups @ 100.
  14. For the '06, -Federal 165g TBBC, no Idea if they still make it, still have a supply. 20 gauge -Remington Accu-Tips...Very accurate in my set up. Muzzleloader -350g FPB, 80 grains of BH 209.
  15. I am a firearms hunter only. I guess I really do not understand what all the fuss is about. I believe some bow hunters believe that firearm hunters will just grab a crossbow, and go hunting because it is easier? Maybe there is something to that, but not as I am concerned. I have no desire to stick an arrow or bolt in anything. Just not my thing..I really like muzzleloaders, rifles, shotguns... Now do not get me wrong. I have great respect for bowhunters. They are some of the BEST hunters out there. My buddy is an avid bowhunter. He asked if I would hunt with the crossbow. I said no. I am fully capable of learning to shoot a compound well. I have actually shot targets before. Just not my cup of tea.
  16. Oh wow. I suppose there is pretty good hunting pressure in the area? Any thing you can tell me would be appreciated. (you could pm me as well) Thanks
  17. Oh yeah? It is in New Lisbon. I am looking to purchase it soon if everything works out.
  18. Wow a Copperhead? Thats cool. Never seen one. Is your place close to one of these areas? http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/44646.html
  19. There is no doubt Brookhaven is nicer. But I like Calverton better. I go on non-prime times though. Don't know why I like it better...It is pretty crappy. lol. If you go to Calverton, bring your own rest, or sandbags, and stapler, targets, etc.

    How come?

I bought one to add another "season," and to get away from crowds...And it is a real blast. I never thought they would be this much fun. As Bubba said, It is a great time working up loads, and finding what works. (you would think that would be a pain like shotguns, but not so.) I never posted much at Greybeards, but I recognize bubba from there. (Hello) He knows what he is talking about in regards to Muzzy's..
