This one happened not to far from me. the shooter shot at a deer and missed. the bullet hit a rock and ricocheted and hit his brother that was walking out on a trail. all of the articles only say he shot his brother in the shoulder they don't specify how.

He definitely looks like a brute!

I believe in NYS you need a pistol permit to own any pistol that functions. exceptions are made for black powder pistols that will not function or "bullets" are not available.

This is the first year I noticed this but from the looks of it yes if you don't fill your regular season tag it becomes an either sex tag in the late muzzleloading season if you bought a muzzleloading license.

took one to a butcher because my father had to have back surgery and didnt feel up to teaching me and paid $60 and got someone else's burger instead of my sausage and didn't get much meat. my father taught me to do it myself and i seem to get more meat now and i know it is mine and that i am going to get what i want. best yet it is free.

I live just north of the Adirondacks. I grew up in the adirondack park and my father worked in the woods and said he has seen bobcats while working but never any this big.

Actually I showed the pics to a guy yesterday and his exact response was " IT'S A F****ING HYENA". lol. then he said it was a Chupacabra. which was made me lean towards the idea of a really mangey coyote. The only bobcats I have seen were stuffed and a lot smaller than this. I just didn't think that there were any in this area.

bobcat crossed my mind but I thought it was way to big to be a bobcat.

Any ideas what this is? I Have pictures of all kinds of animals in the last 2 weeks and this is the only one I can't identify. I was thinking coyote but I am just not sure. and this is the only buck on the cam in 2 weeks. kind of glad I choose not to hunt this property.

I used to run out and try for a dmp first thing and still always got denied. now in my area they only release to qualified land owners and disabled vets so I don't even bother. but I still get my license before october 1st.

I have hunted brasher state land before and was never successful. I now try and avoid state land and hunt private land mostly in the westville area. my uncle bought some land between bangor and brandon a few years ago and we have seen some nice bucks on his property. this year will be the first year since he bought it that anyone will hunt it because he hasn't had the time the last few years. the guy he bought it from owns the adjoining property and claims he see deer there all the time but he only hunts pheasants. and I agree too many people shoot whatever they see and i also feel that jacking is a bigger problem in the area that anyone wants to believe.

I enhanced the picture from last year for you. and I am not to far from north bangor and that is a decent buck for our area. I'd drop him.

I would like to see him show up on my cam. I would really like him to show up in front of my stand.

6A and possibly hit 6f this year 6C, 5A,and 5C are always an option also. I live basically in the center of all 5 wmu's so it depends on where i feel like going. I usually spend most of my time in 6A though.

here are the pictures I promised. The only 2 legged critter in any of the pictures was me so that doesn't help us much. all that was left of the stand was about a 12" piece of strap that was cut off and left there. It P1sses me off that people can't keep there hands off of other peoples stuff. I was raised that you respect other peoples stuff and you DO NOT STEAL!!! This idiot screwed up my season. it was one of the best stand locations on the property it has produced more mature bucks than any other stand there. I have another stand I could replace it with but why would I just so this idiot can come back and take another one of our stands. I will let my wifes uncle the property owner decide if he wants to build another stand there. they seem to leave our homemade stands alone. I will be putting cameras back up on a different property so I will be be posting more pictures but won't hunt the property. I have permission to hunt the property but refuse too. it is my grandparents property and they enjoy seeing wild life come into their back yard and I don't want to disturb that for them. i enjoy getting pictures of the deer and other animal so i am going to setup the cameras on their property and we can all enjoy looking at what is on their property not just what comes into the back yard.

went out to pull cards today. and found that someone stole my father inlaws stand so i pulled both cams out and will upload pics later.

I think I have the same boots and they are great. they are bulky but well worth the $70. they keep my feet warmer than anything else I've tried. my feet alway froze before now I can sit comfortably a lot longer

I was just joking when i said it was camera shy this was the first week the cameras were out. I am not trying to conceal it from deer I am trying to conceal it from trespassing/thieves.

I was going to do that originally but that is the main trail we walk down and I wanted to conceal it a little bit. i might still give it a try. it all depends on what I find when I switch cards.

thanks for the suggestions. I will try and fix these issues when I switch out sd cards. I also have to find a better way to secure this cam to the tree. the bungee cords don't work that great if you look at the last 2 pics something hit the cam and the last pics taken on the card were all at somewhat of an angle.

It doesn't flash brighter ever I enhanced the picture on my laptop with a photo editor. 1 click and the photo goes from being dark as h@ll to bright enough that you can see. I am just waiting to get a few shots with my new trophy cam and hope it gets better shot of him. I am almost thinking about switch positions of the 2 cams to see the trophy cam will do better on him.

It is actually on 3 runways. the doe walking toward the camera Is going down a runway to the right the picture. The buck is going down our cut trail that there was a scrape in last year about 5-7 yards in front the buck. And there is another runway to the left of picture. But you can see all three runways from the where the camera is positioned it almost makes a triangle and the camera is in one of the corners facing the middle.
