  1. Glad you are ok Elmo. I'm getting so I don't really care to be in a treestand these days either. I use them quite a bit during bow season still, but I pretty much stick to the ground during rifle season.
  2. So when in history has this ever worked? Taxes rates under Obama are lower then they have been since the 1970's... but if we lower them more the economy will boom? Don't believe what either of these clowns are saying.
  3. Never mind... I'm an idiot. I just went and looked it up. Manner of Taking It is unlawful to: Take big game while the deer or bear is in water. Possess a firearm of any description when bowhunting or when accompanying a person bowhunting during special archery seasons. Make, set or use a salt lick on land inhabited by deer or bear.
  4. So has anyone actually put their eyes on the law that says you can't carry a pistol (with a valid pistol permit of course) while bow hunting? I know everyone says it's illegal and on the DEC FAQs they say you can't, but I've never read it in the hunting regs.
  5. I never have. I guess I don't see the need when I already have my rifle with me and it adds extra weight.
  6. A guy must really want his name in the record book to pull something like this.
  7. That's awesome Elmo. Steven Rinella is the man. I'm almost done with his new book and I really enjoyed the other two as well.
  8. It doesn't matter where your stands are, the goal of any food plot is to have a healthy herd which increases you chances during hunting season.
  9. No need to go on. So you just like to plant stuff and don't do it to help your chances with killing a critter. I have a couple of food plots and I'm similar to you in that I really enjoy doing the work and getting my family involved as well. But lets not pretend you aren't planting them to increase you chances while hunting.
  10. They are both meant to attract critters to your hunting location and keep them there, which classifies both of them as a form of baiting. It's just that the powers that be say one method is ok and the other isn't. So take advantage of the legal form of baiting (food plots).
  11. I agree. When it's cold out everyone knows you should drink whiskey.
  12. I have the RCBS hand primer and I love it. You can prime a lot of cases in a hurry. As for the tumbling media, I use lizard bedding from Petco. It is crushed walnut shells and is cheaper then crushed walnut shells specifically for a tumbler. I add a little bit of Nufinish polish to it.
  13. Yup. I forgot bear too. They have a spring bear season also.
  14. Tons of public land in Montana and lots of different critters to hunt including elk, mule deer, whitetails, moose, sheep, goats, buffalo, turkey. I'd move in a second. For hunters Montana is about the best state to live in. Of course that is just my opinion.
  15. I assume the case prep kit includes a case trimmer? It looks like you should have everything you "need" to get started other than the brass, primers, and powder. You don't need a tumbler or ultra sonic case cleaner, but after hand cleaning the brass a few times you will wish you had one. I use a tumbler.
  16. It appears legit. I got that picture in an email last night from a friend that works with his brother.
  17. Sign me up. That is my kind of hunting. Hopefully we can run an extension cord and get a football game on too.
  18. And they are camo also. Very nice.
  19. Or maybe he has land in Texas also and mixed in a couple of corn flinger pictures on accident.
  20. I just use the back of my glove. I've never had a problem with my eyes watering when it is real cold out so I don't do anything special.
  21. I'm surprised anyone would call shooting a penned animal "hunting". I don't have a problem with it if that's what you are in too, but call it what it is.
